This wine is magical, so unique. At first nose had some funk then opened up to notes of dried plum, barberry, raspberry, fruit leather. Most predominant note was potpourri, smelled like Christmas Eve, cinnamon, nutmeg. Was beautifully balanced with round tannins marked by nice acidity, good structure. Noted evolved and changed every few minutes I went back to it. LOVE. Paired great with spicy charcuterie... Should be versatile in pairings with food, something substantial could handle bold flavors. — 10 years ago

Completely different experiences on nose vs palate. Seriously funky nose, beets, blood, clove and slice, very earthy, hunt of stewed sour cherries. On the plate it really shines, complex, symphonic in its attack and super long finish. — 8 years ago

So intensely aromatic, intoxicatingly, dark spicy cherries, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, beautiful rich fruit but perfectly balanced with earthy notes of mushrooms, decomposed leaves, vegetal, black truffle, barnyardy... bright acid it and really long finish — 8 years ago

Beautiful nose, strawberry, sour cherry slightly tannins, vanilla, clove, nutmeg, a lot of spice, hint of smoke, cool vintage but still had some lushness to the fruit, just barely starting to show some mushroom truffle notes. Vintage shows in the acidity but still nicely balanced. Only thing is intensity fades in back end. Found this wine for $210 on a restaurant list, what amazing value. — 8 years ago
