Nappa 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon

Really nice cab. Opened it up yesterday but was way too tired to drink it. Tonight with pasta after the kids spring break it tasted great. Fruit forward but not overly jammy. Nice nose. No heavy tannins. I think it tastes better after dinner with a nice chocolate. Would highly recommend. 39$. 9.3

Red wine 2022.
Easy to drink red table wine. Medium floral ? Little tannins. Nice bottle of vino with a homemade pasta sauce on a snowed in 16+ inch blizzard with the kids off school. I am starting to really like these Italian reds. They seem to be smooth, lighter vino not this jam with your peanut butter sandwich. Would recommend. $18.

Got this bottle in last bottle. First try. Floral is nice. Light color. Nice light wine. Easy to drink. Nothing that’s taking my socks off if you know what I mean. I also had a tough last couple days so I’m not sure if it makes it taste better or worse. Let it sit for a min, it tastes good. Light oak. Current ? Not sure what a current is. 9.0. 25$. Worth it.

Langhe Nebbiolo 2021.
Initial smell questionable. I also got pranked by my kids with a glass of red wine vinegar since it’s April fools day. I wasn’t a big fan at first but it tasted better as it sat. Light like a Pinot but Not a great aftertaste. Not bad not great. Midweek vino after first kids soccer practice. 8.2? 20$

2022 Syrah
First Syrah I’ve had in a while. Also on 1600 calories so it’s going a little to my head. Nice floral bouquet, that I got for my wife ! Really easy to drink. Not super dry. Heavier than a Pinot. Reminds me a bit of an Italian wine. Would recommend. Had the last glass the next day with dinner. Great. 22$

2nd Pinot, back to back. This was a bit dark vs last one. More tannins than I would like. Little harder on the palate. Makes the tongue really pucker. Not a bad drink. Twist top. Good for a 2 win indoor soccer day. Great for playoff football. 8.4 $16

Santa margherita
Pinot Grigio 2024
Pretty typical in taste. Clear. Nose doesn’t smell great. Old flowers. I think the meal ( mushroom tor tortellini with pesto and fresh wild mushrooms ) over plays the wine. I want to like whites but just hard to get down. This one was in the fridge making it much easier to put down. It’s really not that bad. Better than most I can remember. 8/10 for a white is like 8.5. 20$

Cain Five 2017 spring mt district. Napa. Complex wine. Probably need to open it up. Dry. Tastes expensive, but that might just be that it was held in oak. 2 hrs in. Really nice flavor. Not acidic. Lighter tannins. Fell asleep woke up and had a sip. Even better. Drank some the next day. Even better. Very smooth. Not that jammy cab. The Merlot and franc mellows it out. Similar blend as a home brew where you get a bunch of different varietals and put them together. But it seems to work really nice. 46% cab, 26 Merlot, 21 cab franc, 5 Malbec, 2 petit verdot. Really worth what I got it for. Need to open it up at breakfast for dinner. Just don’t try it with lunch or you won’t have any later. 44$. — a month ago

Dark peppery cab. Has a bite. Really full of tannins. Not sure what year this is but very spicy like the Italian sausage and polenta I’m having it with. Not as jammy as most cabs I’ve been having recently. Pared with a fruit salad it tasted better but I’m not sure if the fruit is hiding something or adding something. 8.5. 19$

Opened it up for a Christmas Eve dinner that we host. Good but honestly way to busy to even really judge. Had it the following day(s) after as a wine by the fire post dinner and really liked it. It was refrigerator cold. Nice easy going rose. Light floral notes. Easy on the pallet. If it’s this good a few days out “decanted “ in the fridge, I can just assume it’s a treat when just opened. Not sure where to get it or the price but if you see it, try a bottle.
