Ligurian white (Pigato); under $20, light, aromatic, and interesting. Expresses the wondrous quality of Italian whites. No fuss - a perfect summer white. 13% ABV; a brilliant Kermit Lynch Selection — 12 years ago

Lovely sweet red lightish Nebbiolo fruit; finessed; tell-tell acidity, and a long finish. Medium weight and balanced. Poor Man's" Monprivato! — 12 years ago

Outstanding Burgundy, in a perfect place for drinking. This wine is presently very hard to find in the secondary market (could be a post-DRC acquisition effect)? A good Coravin wine! — 11 years ago

9.1

Legendary and ultra rare Cab/Merot blend from the now defunct vineyard of Prince Alberico Ludovisi, near Rome. Very few cases made it stateside before the final vintage in 1995. Bone dry; 12% ABV, perhaps the most brilliant robe of any Italian red I've ever tasted. Perfect balance, fresh, subtle, unmistakeably Italian. A tiny bit shy of fruit but not a flaw. A real treat and I think my most interesting wine in the last 5-7 years! Maybe it cost me $65 or so.... — 12 years ago
