The nose evolved quite a lot over the past 45 minutes. A bit closed and citrusy at first, it shows now minerally notes like chalk and crushed oyster shell. There is white peach, wheat, white flowers too. This is super complex. As always with furmint there is a strong acid drive, but here peach, lemon and even pineapple notes give it balance. There is almost a residual sugar impression. The texture is soft and there is a bit of weight on the sides. The mid palate is a ball that expands and the finish is a fresh, fun, peachy, pineappley, lemony delish that goes on for a while . This is a great effort. Tokaj winemakers have access to an outstanding terroir and make wonders out of it. I'm surprised they don't yet get the same credit recognition and love as some other winemakers from other, more laudated, wine regions. This is outstanding, and it goes for less than 10 euros at the cellar door.
