Dark ruby garnet in the glass. Abundant nose of cassis and other purple fruit with a menthol base. Palate is full-bodied and dark with black currant, prune, and old violets. Medium acidity and just enough (medium minus) tannins to keep it food friendly; burgers to Porterhouse. Just make sure the food is flavorful. It needs the competition. Still holding up well 14 years on with maybe five or ten years left.
