This Dom Ruinart is 16 years old but still has very vibrant and fresh fruit with a relatively long, toasty finish. Clearly, the star of the Tasting Panel trade tasting, surrounded by many high end sparklers from Krug, Dom Perignon, & Perrier Jouet. 12.18.13

Gorgeous, gorgeous rose. Mostly Pinot with a little chard to finish it off. We enjoyed through a white wine glass to open up the aromatics!

Quite ripe and full of fruit. Good not great, but very enjoyable.

Good but not great. Showed plenty of fruit and acid but not enough else to justify the $

1998 vintage Rose Dom Ruinart. 15% Pinot red wine. The rest is Blanc de Blancs. Medium salmon, edging towards copper. Very elegant and fresh. Low dosage - 5g? Red currant, wild strawberry, some earthy notes. Iron / copper sulphate aromas which I find alluring. On the palate, medium bodied, medium plus concentration, integrated acidity, elegant and angular. Clean as a whistle - too young to open? I think so. But very enjoyable now.

1998 vintage Rose. Copper hue, edging on deep salmon. Rye bread and malted barley, yeasty, mushroom, sous-bois. Oloroso notes. Whisky fans will love it. On the palate, concentrated but angular! Balanced. This is a great wine that could age further for another decade at least. 9.6 grams of acid but completely integrated. Cool vintage but ripe nonetheless. There's some grip on the tannins here in the mid-palate. The bubbles have gone after a few minutes but doesn't impact the wine negatively at all. The length is very refined.
