Round Pond Estate
Proprietary Red Wine

Second blind red for my father’s 53rd birthday. We tried four 2014s, two were Cabernet Sauvignons and two were Bordeaux Blends.
Deep ruby red. Red plums on the nose with some minerality and spices. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Lots of acidity and red fruits. A little gritty, good spices and minerality. Long finish drink till 2027.

Best red blend from RP in years. Smooth finish great balance.

Jammy, plums big mouthful and not unpleasant. Very fruit forward minimal bitter tannins and short linger.

I get red fruits and chocolate on the nose. Darker fruits on the palette with slight notes of pepper and cassis, which give it an interesting sweetness on the finish. Round Pond produced this wine to highlight their cab, petit Verdot & Malbec without mimicking a Bordeaux directly and I think they've done a wonderful job here.

Syrah is making a comeback, or is becoming more popular. The color on this Round Pond Syrah is beautiful. The wine is just a little tight and bright at this point. Give it some time to gather some more depth.
