Funky and pungent. Cherry tobacco, leather, eucalyptus, and a touch of brown sugar. Held up well over several hours.

Fully mature. Drink up.
If you're going to age Zinfandel this is definitely a good place to start.

Any Zinfandel that still tastes this fresh after 12 years deserves five gold stars. The first vintage Mike Dashe really crafted out of Lytton Springs and made even better when sharing alongside him, Anne and the Dashe team.

The black cherry red '94 Ridge Zinfandel Field Blend 'Lytton Springs' had whiffs of tar, leather, smoke and muted dark berries lift from the glass. The tongue picked up unctuous flavors of stewed fruit, pepper and spice. The decent length finish was well-integrated with dry briery tannins. I wish I had opened this about 6-8 years ago to have had brighter fruit flavors.
