An 03 just starting to open. This was popped about 3hrs in advance and still bringing some tannin. Settled down over the next few hours and was a finessed and balanced cab showing the best of Napa+Sonoma.

Jul 27th, 2015Had an opportunity to taste this incredibly well-made wine today. At 16 years, still going strong. The wine was actually rather astringent and awkward at initial cork pop. Took about 20 minutes to find its feet. When it did, herbal black cherry, dates, a hint of rhubarb and sweeter pipe tobacco was the backbone of this wine. Truffle and a little bit of mushroom to the finish. Still had really good acidity although most of the tannin had resolved. Still with incredible balance. Maybe a slight bit on the back of the curve, but I would definitely consider this one ready to go with a small decant.
