Very structured with powerful tannins and lots of dark fruit. Got about a 90 minute decant and could use more. There’s no rush on this but if the 13 tannins are never going to soften then it might be best to get to these while the fruit is still in abundance.

Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown creates another amazing wine from the high Howell Mountain fruit from Outpost. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and opulent in style. Deep flavors of black currant, and light flavors of chocolate and vanilla. Velvet texture and great finish. Unfortunately, I just heard it was sold out. 😶

Tonight I opened an amazing but admittedly "too young" cab, drank some while decanting, and an hour later poured some more. There was a noticeable difference...in a good way. They say, like wine, we get better with age - and in this case the aging process via oxidation/decanting did wonders. To quote my favorite line from Sideways, "I like how wine continues to evolve, like if I opened a bottle of wine today it would taste different than if I'd opened it on any other day, because a bottle of wine is actually alive. And it's constantly evolving and gaining complexity. That is, until it peaks". Here's to never peaking. #needtobreathe

Gem of a howell mountain cab. Loved our visit to Outpost and the discovery of their wine and business. Thank you Brent for the tour!

Drinking very nice right out of the gate. I usually lay napa cabs down for 10 years plus. Love Howell Mountain fruit.
