Dark fruits on the nose. More complex than Zinfandel with more leathery notes, and a bit more tannins. Lives up to bitter name, plesently, sucks my cheeks in. Light spice on the palate, heavy spice on the finish. Paired well with bolognese and chicken a la mattone with smokey notes.

Full, inky, chewy, soft but strong tannins. Beautiful wine but would be tough to pair with anything but barbecue. Probably best after dinner with cheese, chocolate, dried fruits.
