Striking aromatics of Deep Purple pencil lead and violets, with a hit of anise. This carries over into and coats my mouth with a complimentary acid streak. Very glad to have more.

Wow, tasting fantastic. Just the right amount of pepper and dark fruit blended together. Got better as it warmed up. Could still keep for a few years.

Talk about a backward wine: tasted over 3 days and just getting sweet by the last sip. Keep in mind the winemaker here John Duval also made the 1990 Grange, among other greats.

Day 1: Heart of Darkness. Impenetrable black licorice, charcoal, black coffee, flat finish.

Day 2: bitter flavors softening, fruit ascendant and brighter everything

Day 3: cozy cinnamon and dark cherry, quite rosy.
