Beautiful GSMT that is really coming around at 6-7 years old. Savory, coffee notes, brooding dark fruit, smoky. Wonderful.

Excellent tasting with Chris.

Medium ruby red. Attack of dark cocoa and woody notes. Finally opened up with a light flora undertone. Solid acidity, heavy tannins (7/10) and balanced. Full bodied and layered with dark fruits like black cherries, and dark raspberries. Good amount of spices, pepper and anise with a nice zing. Dark gravel near the long finish and a touch dry. Rhône style blend made up of 45% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 18% Mourvedre, and 2% Tannat. Made through a series of co-ferments from 16 vineyards. Drink from 2018 till 2027.

13' Herman Story Casual Encounters is a blend of mostly GSM. The color is close to inky. Decanted for 1 hour. Floral and spices on the nose. Not hiding the fact that the palate is full of floral & spices. I also get some blueberry, smoking pipe, blk pepper. This goes down surprisingly easy. Well-balanced and very well-made. Love this winery!

2013 Vintage. 15.8% Alcohol. 45% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 18% Mourvèdre, 2% Tannat. Nice fruit and mouthfeel. Will give more cellar time if I have more.

Delectable calls this a Syrah blend but the 2013 has more Grenache. Delicious went great with the tomahawk streak.

It's election day. While I dont know him personally, I think Herman Story winemaker Russell P From is the epitome of what an American is. Maybe I should have written his name in for president. This paired excellently with a perfectly cooked American Ribeye. Big red and blue fruits. North Carolina tobacco. Las Vegas dust. And Hawaiian eucalyptus.

No matter who you voted for or who wins, let's celebrate the one thing that brings this divided country together: alcohol.
