Nice musty tart dark cherry nose.. salty and vegetal. Strawberry tomato, tomato leaf, cranberry astringency, and mossy oak sweetness on the palate and finish. M+ acid and chalky tannins that build up and linger. Velvety at first thanks to the oak, but more raw and grippy as it finishes. Probably more chalky and vegetal than a lot of people would want for a Rioja. Deep red oaky richness to enjoy, but overall the $12 price tag shows through as the finish runs out precipitously, leaving tannins and little else.
