Another day in the pandemic.. another bottle of wine. I purchased a whole case of 2014 Fiddletown Cellars Petite Sirah when I read an article saying this wine was affordable and would age well. Tonight we gave one of those bottles a try... perhaps a bit early, but, even now, the wine is quite nice! It is inky dark. On the nose the slight dark fruit smell is pushed aside by the smell of peppery bay leaves (the greenness may be an indication that wine will be even better with more time). But, as stated, the wine is going down smooth tonight, even with it’s pronounced tannic structure, or is accessible and food friendly.
