The deeply saturated ruby-red '98 Domaine de la Charbonnière Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'les Hautes Brusquières Cuvée Spéciale' showed muted aromas of fig, leather, herbs and dark roast coffee. Some earthy terroir notes started to show on the chewy and lengthy finish. Definitely nearing the end of its prime drinking window, but still quite pleasant.
