Crianza Ribera del Duero Tempranillo

The 2014 ‘Condado de Haza’ by Alejandro Fernandez is a 100% Tempranillo wine, sourced from their estate vineyards. This shows toasty oak with lovely savory character on the nose with red fruits and bell pepper accents. The mouthfeel and texture here is excellent as the wine delivers beautiful earthy tones with red and dark fruit flavors and a touch of chocolate. With bright acidity, this will cellar well over the next decade. Drink 2019-2029- 91

Moderately extracted purple-red, excellent clarity. Canned green bean and black currant notes in nose initially, the veg notes changes to briar after an hour. Black currant and blackberry flavors, chewy tannins, tart berry finish, light but chewy seed tannin astringency in aftertaste. Worth decanting this one at least three hours, else it will be a bit lacking in fruit. Good acidity for food here.

Feed store. Fertilizer.

Deeply extracted, purple. Sweet pea, cassis, butter and a touch of eucalyptus in nose. Black currant flavor, high seed tannin, skin astringency on finish.

Deeper fruit than the Pesquera. Seemed a touch more modern but lovely none the less and my preference over the former on this night.

Purple red in color. Graphite, violet and cooked kale in nose. Earthy, mushrooms and mild blackberry flavor. Skin astringency on front of tongue, mild bitterness on finish. Worth decanting or aging a bit

Funky feed store nose. Manure. Softer on the palate with berry and violet notes.

Hearty and bright but still very refreshing. Excellent pairing with a good Spanish or Southern European meal

Dried apricot and prune. Tasty but sweet
