Tart red cherry, fruit present yet fading, bottle age on aroma and palate. Showing well, drink now.

2018 100th anniversary vintage. Nettles and allspice on the nose. *Dense* red fruit on the front — cherries, cassis, and raspberries. Lots of tannic wallop on the front, too. The tannins mellow out on the mid palate, but they have a sharp flinty bitterness that provides a counterpoint to the fruit on the front. It fades some more on the finish, but some of softer buttery tannins come through at the end. Not a long finish though.

Update: after decanting for half an hour the taste profile changed rather dramatically. The front-end fruit and tannic punch mellowed out, and the softer underlying tannins came through. Strangely enough the finish increased in intensity. This is a very interesting wine. It may not be the best Bordeaux I’ve ever had, but it’s satisfying on many levels indeed.

Dense, dark, earthy. Top note of baby's diaper.

Past it. Threw enormous sediment and hinted at a very good (but not great) wine once but tasted like homework
