Popped and poured; consumed over the course of 5 hours. Cork was perfect. No visual signs of age. Initially I was quite concerned due to the rather obvious presence of DMS on the nose, manifesting itself as a combo of black olives and canned corn. Beneath all that, it was clear there was a core of opulent, almost slutty fruit. Our patience was eventually rewarded. After several hours, the DMS has dissipated and what was left was just stunning: brambles, blackberry jam, Chambord and garrigue. Surprisingly still rather primary. Tannins are remarkably stiff at 13 years old! Structure to last another decade for sure though this bottle, with its flaw, probably wouldn’t want to remain in a cellar any longer.
