The debut of this. 60% whole cluster. Wow. Red fruits. Earth, limestone. So complex. So earthy yet sweet. Red berries. insanely aromatic. Unreal concentration and purity. High class tannins. So sappy and pure. Amazing intensity. Sappy and juicy. Amazing length. Sick. Insane. Crazy inner mouth aromas. So so deep. Sweet fruit and tannins. Long and I mean long. — 3 years ago
Dark ruby with some purple.
Dark fruit aromas
Surprising body for a German Pinot.

Another new wine from HPZ. Nose is classic Gewurz. Lychee, pineapple, sweet peas, herbals, florals and very ostentatious. Palate is fresh and engaging with the usual gewurz acidity (not much) and a soft, sensual texture. Very sappy and pure. Good but I am not a fan of the grape. — 3 years ago
Sick nose. So complex. Hint of sweet wood, such a complex perfume and florals. Lovely pit fruits that are just vivid and detailed. So deep, endless nuance. This is a knockout. Palate is like elite 1er cru white burgundy. Awesome sweet wood that is so well integrated that only an MW could pull this off. The complexity is off the charts. Brown sugar, pitted fruits and an almost Cochr like luxuriousness. This is brilliant! Brilliant freshness and this is straight as an arrow and laser like in its precision and finesse. Perfect balance. Blown away. The depth of this perfume is amazing. Almost a Tolkien like amalgam of earthen scents. So special. Palate is so round yet so pure. Salty now on the finish. Exceptional wine. Ziereisen Jaspis level. — 4 years ago
Überraschung: 2016er echt gut in Form, leichter und leckerer Sommerwein. — 6 years ago
Ok, so like Michael said, there was this funky cheese whiff when we first opened it, but after some air (and a bottle of Ziereisen Lugle pinot blanc and conversation about pussy hat parades), this wine settled in as the perfect companion to our smitten kitchen one pan chicken tikka with potatoes and cauliflower. Nutty, mellow, nutmeg, and smooth tannins in a white whine ("orange wine" to be exact). Yum. Sad I only have the one more bottle... — 8 years ago
Bright garnet color. Aromas of dark cherry, mushroom, tomato skin with a touch of barnyard funk. Pallet is full of ripe red fruit (cherry, cranberry , raspberry & plum) with notes of mushrooms, baking spices and minerals. A bit of smoke on the finish. Silky tannins. Medium bodied and bright. — 3 years ago
Best Swiss Pinot I’ve ever had courtesy of Hanspeter Ziereisen. Freaking unreal nose. Dark violets, alpine scents galore, the best and most pure, vivid black cherries I’ve ever smelled. Wow. Just stunning. Smells rich but alpine rich! This is only just beginning as air is always the friend of anything HPZ makes. Wow that palate. Incredible freshness and density allied with just the most amazing finesse. This is as grand as any burgundy grand cru. Man, I could smell this forever. Amazing structure and the sweetest most velvety tannins. Amazing fruit concentration. What a finish. What complexity. Just stunning. Super young but super incredible. 18 is the best vintage of Riehen I’ve ever tasted. As it airs the fruit comes more Into focus on the palate and the nose. What clarity. Just a tiny hit of opulence and then unreal freshness, leanness and sweet fruit. Unreal juxtaposition. — 3 years ago
Wow. This is bananas great! Nose has the typical youthful wood of this cuvee and it always needs time but wow there are stone fruits, wet stones, lemon, lime and a hint of underarm. So so gorgeous. Super floral with a top note of sugar snap peas. Palate is superb. Young but concentrated and gorgeously integrated wood. Wonderfully framing. Stone fruits galore like apricot and peach but with a feral/gamey quality that is super clean and engaging. This needs 5 years but is quite an accomplishment. Amazingly pure, juicy and balanced. Terrific grip and phenolics give almost a tannic like impression on the finish. Long. Compelling complexity. A brilliant wine! Awesome freshness and acidity. So fine. So refined. This is the counterpoint to the Ziereisen Grauburgunder Jaspis Alte Reben. — 4 years ago
Just a stunning but young Jaspis Syrah which is one of the greatest Syrahs in the world. Stunningly aromatic nose that echoes the Ziereisen Pinots yet it’s Syrah. Meat, fresh and bloody, some pleasant bittersweet cocoa like oak. Insane aromas. Head spinning. Berry. Flowers. Tree bark. Earth. Just so so aromatic. And right out of the bottle. Yet the palate is a bit tighter but no less amazing. Amazing fruit and so silky. Amazingly juicy but also delicate and just has a palate presence that demands your focus. Amazing fruit on the backend that is almost Burgundian. My goodness this is so so long. Hermitage level. Endless finish. It’s so fresh and the limestone just screams on the finish. Just an amazing wine. — 5 years ago
Blackberry nose. Relative dark seems lighter than the Köpfle. Less interesting wine compared to the Köpfle and closer in taste to the Ziereisen(s). Blackberry, tealeaves VERY good but not a standout in the top leagues from BADEN aka the Gran Crus from Enderle and Moll. — 9 years ago

Elegant and sophisticated and just reserved enough to keep you totally occupied and interested. @Lyle Fass Fantastic! — 3 years ago
Just opened this. One can tell this will be a journey. I would only open this if you have at least 2-3 hours to Taste it. It’s all over the place on open. Basically tastes like if Ziereisen made wine in the mountains.
Nose is dense but has that alpine thing you get from like savoie. Very pretty. Almost intoxicating. Like a field of flowering cherry trees on top of a mountain.
Palate is very bright. Sweet cherry fruit.
A 9.5 easy on open. I’m guessing this will be better as it airs and integrates.
As this opens holy fuck. Nose is alpine with some gevrey spice. Palate is rubber made from grape vines (I know impossible), cherry. Rich. Elegant Cherry extract. Just a kiss of bitterness. Wowowowowo. So elegantly rich. Unbelievable.

This wine gets better every vintage. Just stunning. Color is almost a pinkish hue on this years. Guessing some skin contact but only a little just to get the color as this has no tannin etc. What a nose. Stone fruits, hint of wood, huge minerality that is so clean and smells like some fresh new element. Can’t explain it. So mineral. Just soars yet is straight and direct. Some pink and white flowers as well. Concentrated yet so so elegant with dazzling purity and an intense fruit skin character. Dazzling purity and such focus and linearity. The fruit is so well defined and just stays with you and pushes forward on the palate slowly. Knockout finish. Just a brilliant bottle. I’m sure later in the day it will improve and push my score maybe higher. As it airs the complexity of aromas reaches hypersonic overdrive. Just insane. What a wine. Easily will age 15 years but I imagine in 7-8 it’s really gonna peak. — 5 years ago

Always so good. Opulent and incisive. Deep nose. Lots of amplitude. Huge limestone. Herbal. So complex. German Chardonnay is so awesome. What a palate. Huge core of apple and pear fruit and stacked with minerals and a malo sweetness. So long and nimble. Gorgeous wine. Almost 9.5. — 3 years ago
