Really outstanding at a reasonable price. — 10 years ago
Pale copper color. Somewhat smoky, toasted caramel, malt, barley, orange zest, raisins. On the palate, round mouthfeel with very subtle hints of iodine, sea spray, and wet grass from Yoichi malt. Very, very nice blended malt! — 10 years ago

Certainly well named - the Japanese are very exact with this description - “Peaty and Salty” nails it. I don’t drink a lot of whisky but as the weather cools down it was a great little tipple - one of the best I’ve had in recent years. Iodine/seaweed notes through the spirit. Not shy at 55% ABV and expensive for this 500ml bottle at $300 AUD but superb quality. — 7 years ago

A tremendous whisky, very lean and fresh. Pale color, very intense. Rye-like spiciness. Salt air. — 10 years ago
Golden straw. Very elegant aromas of wet turf, potting soil, sea spray, and dried apricots in the background. Subtle malt flavors, vanilla, and fresh tobacco. Full mouthfeel with a long finish. — 10 years ago
Less fruit than suggested and also more peaty than expected - however wonderful pear and a great smokey finish — 10 years ago

My first Japanese whiskey bottle courtesy of the Maki clan. Outrageously good stuff. Can't wait for my next Japanese bottle! Really elegant, balanced, complex stuff — 12 years ago

Deep ruby. Savoury, lots of tannin and structure, but beautifully balanced. No fatigue. Spicy, smoky, dried fruit character, but there are no dried fruit used. Tightly knit, good acidity. Still needs years to see its prime. 13,200JPY /bottle. — 6 years ago
