Have you ever tasted a wine that you would be fully prepared to enter into a mutually exclusive relationship with? This wine would be like the withholding partner who, when they showed up, literally charmed the pants off of you. I’d be willing to sister wife this wine with @Amy Pelletier Beck @Jamie Anderson @antonia dorans the best of the penis anus wines thus far! — 6 years ago
One of my favorite dinners was on the menu here at Chez Skip - cassoulet! And my knowledge of wine pairing is as sophisticated as a toddler eating spaghetti, I said to myself - hey I am eating French food and I like this French wine, so hey why not? And that was that. But as wine can be, it evoked its memory of when I had it first. I remember sitting out in the patio and being impressed with it. I thought to myself I could really enjoy French wines, but as history has shown, that was clearly a short lived notion.
Knowing it had been some time, I had an odd feeling, so I checked my Delectable history. Indeed, this was the very first wine I had rated!
So, to my friends, do you remember your first wine on here? Was it anything memorable? @philip Angino @Martin A. Brought this to a min 1er cru dinner - kinda feel bad for that, but I thought a wine consisting of all of Prieure Roch's best crus would stand tall against the rest. So darn bunchy (perplexing, given how it's made; must ask Yannick). Good, but it wasn't the flower bomb of the 10'
Note from Prieure Roch's website:
There are years where the fickleness of the weather prevent the even ripening of all the grapes on the bunches, and as the grapes cannot be harvested before the stems themselves fully ripen, on these years any extra ripe grapes will detach themselves from the stem while on the “table de tri”(sorting table). Since the traditional Burgundy vinification methods require the grapes to be fermented “entière” (in whole bunches) the loose berries are not used, despite being wonderfully ripe. However, taking all of these loose berries from every vendange, every cuve, permits us to unite all of our best crus and create one “cuvée spéciale”. This “tri” (selection) has in effect been made by the grapes themselves hence the name Pinoterie (Pinot-tri, understand the pun?). Natures choice, ripe voluptuous fruit, sheer pleasure.
Perhaps the most expensive bourgogne out there. Then again, it's a wine featuring a mix of premier cru and grand cru fruit. — 7 years ago
I expected more acidity but this was interesting and easy to drink. — 8 years ago
2010 vintage. Tasting with Yannick at The Domaine. Pale garnet hue. On the nose, smoky, reductive, savoury, plush black plums. Spicy. Interesting. On the palate, medium plus acidity and medium tannins - plush, medium body and medium plus concentration. Energetic and tense. Nothing round here. Good finish, with some tartness on the back of the palate. Not really my style of Burgundy but interesting. — 8 years ago
Smells like a donkey. Light soft berry mouth, med+ tannins. — 8 years ago

Totally delicious, sweet, light. Everything you would expect from a Brut champagne. Compare with Moët. Will add this to my favorites! — 7 years ago
2009 vintage. At the Domaine with Yannick, the wine maker. Medium ruby hue. Earthy, masculine, manure, broad and brawny. Dark fruits - blackberry and black plum. Hints of savoury spice and white pepper. Reductive smokiness. Some old oak. Complex. On the palate, high acidity, medium plus body, medium plus alcohol and medium tannins - very plush. Textural and silky. Good concentration. Good length although some tart notes on the back of the palate. Good. Drink now until 2032+. — 8 years ago
