Complex and rich. Lots of – very macerated – autochthonous flowers and some smokiness. The 'promised' wooden and chocolate traces were mostly gone, but that's not unusual in a 12-year wine. All in all, a pretty good buy. — 8 years ago
Tasted January 2014
Deep ruby to dark garnet, St. Laurent Ausstich is "selection of the best barrels of the vintage". Smoked cherries, herbs and forest berries dominate on the bouquet. Palate is juicy, with chokeberries and soft wooden tartness, slightly straight. Sour cherry and oak hints on meduim length finish. Overall - pretty nice wine with velvety structure, balanced and elegant to some extent. Suits roe deer sliced and cooked in onion sauce. — 9 years ago
Served chilled in a wooden box, smooth, bold with peach fruit and vanilla notes. — 9 years ago
Buttery, without the actual wooden tones, which makes it absolutely perfect with fish and a light spice marinade! — 9 years ago
Lingonberries, strawberries, leather and wooden tones. Impressive clarity of flavour. Like an autumn day in the woods bottled for my enjoyment. — 10 years ago
could i age this bottle a bit more and this would yield a better point. but as for now, its a giod wine woth a broad taste of wooden flavours.. like shoraz is as usual... very good. — 10 years ago
2011. Fizzy, acceptable as a still vinho verde. Wooden cork, already showing veggie n hints of nut aroma. Frizzante at tongue tip, mild, fell short. I do enjoy aged vinho verde and this shows all it can offer. Buy. — 11 years ago
Dry, wooden from begining and soften at the end. — 12 years ago
Smooth, wooden, easy to drink, med-full body at Lure — 12 years ago
Aromatic fruit. Licorice with wooden flavor after decanting. — 7 years ago
Call me crazy, but this smelled like carrots pulled from cold wet earth and the inside of an old wooden ship in the best possible way. 😍 Tasted like red fruits but also with some rhubarb. Mmmmmm. — 8 years ago
Very dry, wooden, earthy with coffee reverberations on the palate. Dark purple. A very nice Croatian wine. — 8 years ago
Ripe sour cherry nose, also violet. Medium + body, with again ripe sour cherries - which are, 1 year aged in Slavonial oak results in subtle wooden hints, but fruit shines on the foreground, raspberries mainly, starts with tingling acidity and evenly transform into polished ripe sour cherry aftertaste, balanced. Very good, especially for the price, "mini" Brunello :) — 9 years ago
Great wine to serve on a hot day with some fruit and cheese. Low acidity and a fruity finish makes this enjoyable. — 9 years ago
Wooden flavor, good taste — 10 years ago
Complex and not too sweet. Citrus and floral flavors. Delicious! — 10 years ago
This is the Mütterle -R-, not the regular Mütterle. The -R- is fermented in wooden barrels. — 11 years ago
So much flavor! From Le Marche. Bold, wooden, full body! Bens pick at Corsino — 12 years ago
Who doesn't like a juicy Syrah?! Deep and bright plumb in color. Tastes of ripe plumb, black peppercorn, and black olive with leather, spice, dry dusty earth, and wooden field log. Medium bodied with ample tannins. — 8 years ago
Wonderfully pungent floral nose, bit like strolling into a garden center, geraniums and fresh soil but then also very rich notes of black cherry compote and dark mint chocolate. There's also something there that reminds me of walking into a big old church, incense and old wooden benches. Lots going on here, may not be to everyone's taste but showing great complexity. Love it!
Completely rounded palate, silly mouthfeel with inky black fruit and a savoury finish, very alive and pure.

Smooth and subtle red blend. — 9 years ago
Papery and wooden on the nose. Stealthy tannins. Their effect is felt but they are not. Tastes of mint, strawberries, coconut, meat. — 10 years ago
Really nice neutral dry wooden wine for sushi.
Great selection for Jun Sakamoto.

Ach! such a great scotch. Salty sea breeze all over the palate... soft wooden notes too... just wonderful. — 10 years ago
'Orange' wine made from Friuli's autochthonous Ribolla Gialla grapes, fermented with the skins in open wooden casks: oak and ripe yellow fruit in the nose, juicy mouth feel, lots of character, very well managed power, this 2009 vintage will keep for another decade. — 12 years ago
Slightly wooden smell. Dry as Alentejo region! Tastes like it - lots of sun and very dry land... Goes very well with a beautiful sunset. — 12 years ago

Fresh green pepper and succulent ripe blackberry on the nose. Balsamicky goodness, makes you think it should be super thick in consistency but it carries a light delicate mouthful. Yummy yummy. Pour this over your salad, your pork chop, in your bath, any place that needs the soft spots marinated. Likey, likey. — 7 years ago
