"It was a naïve domestic Burgundy without any breeding, but I think we were amused by its presumption..." (to paraphrase James Thurber)
Volnay 1990 - a delight we enjoyed on New Year's Eve
Magnificent 25 year old Volnay that Wink bought to help her dad celebrate his 80th in 1994.
In extremely fine, delicate form last night. — 8 years ago
Sprightly, supple, and a relatively cheap date. At the risk of seeming like an Oger, makes me want to ask, with a knowing wink, "Do you have a sister?" — 9 years ago
Jura red blends are described in Wink Lorch's Jura book as "reminiscent of Burgundies from another of age." This one is also reminiscent of an extremely good Beaujolais. Old oak, pale colour, red fruits, and a grainy, savoury quality. Light bodied but intense, it's great with chicken and roast veg. (2010) — 9 years ago
Great, complex Pinot with lots of full-flavoured dark fruit notes. Cottage with mum, dad & wink — 10 years ago

Deep black fruits that epitomize ripe but never slide into jammy. Whiff of dried rosemary and beautifully subtle wood. Full body with velvety fine, but substantial tannin. Not the most complex, but long, evolving, and above all tasty. My tw cohorts will understand the feeling of forbidden pleasure *wink* — 9 years ago
Where is Wink Lorch when I need her — 9 years ago
Super smooth. At least I think so... But I'm already drunk. Oops. — 9 years ago
If you're drinking champagne, might as well be rose. At wink. — 10 years ago
Fantastic wine. Spice and fruit were beautifully balanced. Kinda old style Cali meets new Cali, with just a wink less acid than the new school approach. — 8 years ago
This guy makes good wine. I think he's a Texan (wink) — 8 years ago
As you peek your nose into the glass a melange of butter scorched strawberry, passion fruit, papaya, banana mango, and warm oak ~ smokes sun gold kiwi and lemon soaked peach skins. These flavors create a thick knit basket weave of aromas and sensations your tongue must unravel one by one. The body is as smooth as licking fresh orange slices dipped in crushed tart powder. A fit and lean steen with a strong finish and tannic wink as it bids you adieu. — 9 years ago
lost a bit of the acidity, but very balanced for a wine of 15.3% wink wink. — 9 years ago
Lovely, very refreshing light yet full with flavor! Super yummy! Funny the guy next toe heard me talking about it with the waitress and he decided to order a glass... He just gave me a nod of approval and a wink with a "nice choice chap" comment.😊 — 10 years ago
Nice. Very fruity — 10 years ago

Awesome Cab Franc. Seriously, give it air and that's what you'll say too. "Syrah." Nudge-nudge, wink wink. Whatevs. It has all the trappings of cab franc. That Eric Crane guy was right. And I thought it was the powdered gravy. — 8 years ago
