Happy Father’s Day! Wonderful pull by my father in law.
I’m a big fan of this winery as you don’t see them around very much. Such high quality with impeccable wine making. Slow ox for 1-2hrs. 95 merlot/5 CabFranc. Espresso and dark cocoa dusted black cherry, ripe blackberry and currant aromatics...intoxicating. So soft, yet ripe fruit, on the palate. Cherry swisher sweets, baked mixed berry figs, and still tart red and black fruit. Can’t believe how tart and ripe the fruit is even at 13yrs. Outstanding. — 7 years ago
Monthly wine group met up and had an Italian wine night at one of the local Italian BYOB spots. Really fantastic Italian wines were brought, as well as some random bottles that were outside the theme (but worthy of opening regardless of theme).
Leave it to @Benjamin Keator to bring something like this! Geez, what a wine. My first Diamond Creek. Fruit very much still there (blackberries, plum, cocoa dusted dates, leather) surrounded by clay notes. Still retaining some structure and while its peak is behind it, this is most definitely still incredibly enjoyable. Great finish on this wine. Bravo, Ben. — 8 years ago

Best pairing, aside from the ratatouille pizza. Lush and dense with strong structure. — 9 years ago
A beautify full bodied fruit bomb with a ton of oak. The potential could be clearly tasted but we all agreed that it needed aging to settle it down and round it out. It was provided by m buddy Kirk., looks like he'll have to buy another one to let it age since this was his last one! Thanks Kirk! — 10 years ago
Full body Merlot with great aromatics of cassis, leather, and hints of grandmas cooking spice rack..Well structured and well rounded tannins great piece of work by the daughter from Caymus and the Wagner family..Really great Merlot and I'm fussy with Merlots!!! Jenny's Sauvignon Blanc is dynamite as well.. — 10 years ago
A classic Napa mouth feel from a vintage that got overshadowed by the 1982 and 1985 vintages. 30 years later it is in perfect shape. The fruit has faded to the brown range and shows complexity you can't buy at the wine shop. — 11 years ago
A surprise. Bright fruit flavors rounded out with subtle herb and earth notes. Beautiful full mouthfeel. Did not overpower the Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Pomegranate Sauce (The Wine Lover's Cookbook by Sid Goldstein) — 12 years ago
Really smooth and great finish. — 6 years ago
It was a treat to taste a Rafanelli Zin as it’s not available through retail and highly allocated from the winery.
For 2015, the fruits were ripe, bright, and simply delicious; the acidity was round; and the tannins were finely grained. Persistent long finish. — 6 years ago
This is a great Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley. Fruit forward with black fruits and chocolate notes, earth, vegetables, bell pepper, spices and peppercorn.
Nose of sweet red candy that fades out with airtime.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some complexity and tannins.
After a few hours of airtime it is much earthier with lots of vegetable notes.
Would benefit from another few years in the bottle.
14.9% alcohol by volume.

This wine is 6 years old and has essentially zero sediment. That means a heavy-duty filtration, which causes me to think, how much flavor did they strip out? Putting that aside, this is very good. Classic scents of brambly dark blackberry and a hint of dark maple syrup, and smoky gravel. In the mouth, it’s large framed, and would benefit from a bit more flesh and fruit. But that’s quibbling. It went very nicely with my mesquite grilled hangar steak. — 8 years ago
Yes it's Friday, and it's time for my Cabernet fix.
Beautiful color of dark purple with a purplish rim.
Nice nose of wild flowers, blueberries, currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, smoke, chocolates, mocha, alcohol, dark coffee, peppercorn and spices.
Medium plus in body and rich, with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, green vegetables, bell pepper, leather, smoke, chocolates, mocha, wood, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Long finish with angular tannins and black pepper.
This Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville is fantastic. Spicy and complex, however, it is not balanced yet. Too young and harsh right now, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. A very typical Napa nose and palate with a great finish.
I have another bottle that I will keep for at least 5 more years. Needs to be opened for an hour or so to show complexity and tannins.
I found it to be better than the 2012 vintage.
Aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (60% new).
14.9% alcohol by volume. — 8 years ago

2006 vintage. Started slow. A few hours later this was singing with clear high notes. Two more bottles in the cellar. Need to find another reason to open them — 10 years ago
Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
Full bodied and Bold, with high acidity and awesome legs.
After an hour of opening up, gorgeous nose with blackberries, blueberries, currants, chocolate, turmeric, vanilla, spices, cooked plums, figs, licorice and peppercorn.
Dry and fruity on the palate with black currents, figs, cherries, blackberries, dry fruits, vanilla, licorice, coffee, tobacco, Mediterranean spices and black pepper.
Long finish with spices, smooth tannins and tart cherries.
Really needs 1 hour to open up properly. Another great Cabernet from the Michael David house. Very enjoyable by itself or with a big juicy steak. I Paired it with a Moroccan chicken dish with lots of spices, and it held its own well.
This changed some from a year ago. Matured and not as abrasive.

It has been sitting there waiting to be drunk. Wow! Tight as hell on opening, really opened up nicely. What a nice Zin. Spicy and nice tannins. Worth the wait. — 11 years ago
Lovely! Bright but supple, well-balanced, dark cherries with a hint of Cocoa on the nose, palate shows dark fruit with some cedar and tobacco. — 11 years ago
EnRoute established in the RRV in 2007 by the partners of Far Niente. Les Pommiers introduced in May 2009 and reflects a blend of vineyards from Green Valley and upper Middle Reach area of RRV AVA. Complex fruit aromas, cedar and mineral notes. On the palate cherry and cranberry flavors with tobacco and toasty oak, rich structured tannins. Nice mouthfeel, zesty crisp acidity ending with fruit, mineral and oak character. Nice! Tasting Sample. — 6 years ago
This Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon is extremely fruity. Good by itself as a sipping wine. Showing black fruits with chocolate notes and peppercorn.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some tannins.
I found this 3 year old better than the 5 years old 2014 i had not too long ago.
I paired it with a cheese plate, dried fruits and crackers.

"If you can't make a great wine in this vintage, you should get another job," Lou Kapcsándy told me in the Spring of 2013, when I first tasted this wine with Kapcsándy, his son Louis, and the late Denis Malbec. It was a fascinating tasting because the wines were all still in separate lots, unblended, and we tasted each lot cooper by cooper...one of the most instructive tastings I have ever done anywhere. Today, a few years later, the 2012 Grand Vin is still stellar. 😱❤️😋 — 7 years ago

Loads of black tea, vanilla with notes of vanilla extract with blue fruits. Tannins finish prominently and a little high toned. Probably peaking as I’m not sure the fruit won’t be overtaken by the tannins in the end. Enjoyable and well made. — 8 years ago
Time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This time it's a California Cabernet.
Dark purple in color with a dirty red rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, dried figs, raisins, blueberries, cherry pie, wood, earth, licorice, cloves, spices, vanilla, peppercorn and pencil lead.
Full-bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate and very fruity, with blackberries, sweet black plums, cooked cherries, vanilla, earth, oak, cloves, light bitter herbs, cola, chocolates, graphite, mint, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins and black pepper.
This California Cabernet is always enjoyable. Well balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
A great sipping wine by the porch or pair it with food like BBQ steak.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (30 minutes).
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Pleasant oaky flavor from the bourbon barrels. Smooth. Wouldn't be my first choice to drink by itself, but try with a meat or strong cheese! — 9 years ago
One of my fave Zin makers. This one with dashes of carignane and petite Syrah. Intensely flavored with ripe dark fruit, pencil shavings and baking spices. Lots of acid to lift the richness. Long finish of fruit and spice. — 10 years ago
An immediate fruity blast with a light bite at the end. A parched tingle haunts you until followed by another sip — 10 years ago
Was told that this is a wonderful old vine Zin...the sales person was right! Wonderful balance and I rarely like Zins! My wife even likes it and she dislikes Zins!! Very nice finish on the palette! — 11 years ago
Jordan is always good... Thinking it would have been better with a steak than the Chicken Parm at Runway 84... Thank you Ralph and the crew from Las Olas... What is better than Thursday night at this place... The chick from Mob wives by the bar taking pics... Chicken Parm and a good Cab... Ahh.... Youth is waisted on the young!!! — 12 years ago
David L

17’ Quivira Alder Grove SB. Pale straw color(sitting in the glass all night) it’s much lighter. Medium bodied
The inviting aromas of peach, guava, orange blossom, key lime pie, followed by a palate full of juicy grapefruit & lively citrus flavors. Moderate/light acidity floats nicely on the back of the palate. Serve at cellar temperature!!! Not to cold.
Incredible value at $ 20 dollars a bottle. Cali version of a well made Bordeaux. Just love it! — 6 years ago
