Alsace Willy Gisselbrecht Pinot Blanc 2009 — 13 years ago
Behaves quite nicely although a bit austere. Don't know the condition of the vintage but I will bet for a late ripening, rainy September one. A bit harsh and green, this bottle was a monastically executed Latour. Cold and no fun. Austere but in a good way. Like Willy Wonka's dad in the movie....... — 11 years ago
This is the first time that I have tasted the 2010 vintage of Willy, but I have certainly had about 10 other vintages in the past. By comparison, this vintage is super concentrated with amazing levels of pencil box and cedar and tobacco along with that underlying current of Barossa eucalyptus and licorice/tarragon. Super dense, super plush, and IMNSHO, not a wine to be paired with food. It dominates the plate. — 12 years ago
