This is wonderful. Beautifully aged to a nice brick red. Must, earth, wet-leaf and humus, plus violet and wildflower, raspberries and various red fruits on the nose. Silken-light, but still energetic. Some blood-orange zest, clove, star anise, baking spices and culinary herbs too; has an aglianico-like character minus the tannins. Elegant and so easy to drink. — 5 years ago
@delectable Spater-veit goldtropfchen Riesling trocken
Nose is slate. Citrus flower. White flowers. Quite lovely. Scratch that. Fucking beautiful.
Palate is mineral. Citrus. Crunchy. Minerals made from citrus.
Elite levels of typicity. If I could create a mosel trocken from scratch this is what it would be. You can literally smell mosel slate on this. I love this wine.

I was worried about this bottle as the fill level was low and there was a lot of seepage. Didn’t matter at all. Fantastic nose of concentrated stone fruit: apricot, peach, some pineapple as well. Sweet smelling flowers ie honeysuckle and slight jasmine note. Nice, mild petrol aroma. On the palate very concentrated and in a great place in terms of the freshness and acidity combined with that aged Riesling profile of honeyed stone fruit, candied pineapple, dried citrus rind, all with a acidity framing the wonderful fruit. In a great place right now.

Juicy nose, apricot, but a bit quiet now. Huge power, depth and concentration, grippy and dense, tremendous, higher sugar and high extract, dense, huge acid, love the structure, energetic for days. So so good. Just spectacular. Needs age. But this is as special as it gets. — a year ago
Bright complex acidity, sweetness is there but not overpowering. Quite the treat after Christmas dinner! — 5 years ago

What’s a hot summer day without Delectable eating one of my better notes? I think this app was last updated during the Ford administration. The top cuvée at Spater-Veit and this is my first time sitting with it. Stunning wine of remarkable beauty. Best Mosel Pinot I have ever had. Nose is Vosne Romanee. Spice galore, a hint of citrus peel, stunning deep cherry fruit of the mid to late season kind. Slate, earth and gorgeous minerals. It’s so clear I am stunned. The detail on the aromas is remarkable. What. A. Palate. The tannins are remarkable. Sweet and ripe. The purity is just crazy. The balance is perfect. This is a 9.7. I cannot believe it. The finesse, the length, the sheer class of this wine is a new benchmark for Mosel and maybe all of German Pinot for me. I am floored. The mint, fresh spruce and desiccated leaves on the nose are remarkable in their clarity. The fruit is insane on the palate. The way it’s integrated with the tannins is just amazing. 9.7 for now and maybe 9.8? The elegance and fineness of this is remarkable. Just a benchmark. Tangy as well with superb inner mouth aromas. Really hasn’t budged in 25 hours. Super sweet and silky with preposterous length and those fine and ripe tannins. — 14 days ago
