Nice. And the somollier said he knew the wine maker from back home. — 8 years ago
I like this almost as much as the Count's* Terry Thomas moustache. A cassis-fest of sweet fruit with good structure, over-delivering for a weak vintage.
* wine maker - Google him. 😉 — 8 years ago
2012 vintage. Excellent wine at a good price from renowned wine maker — 8 years ago
2011 vintage. — 9 years ago
I love their wines probably more than what they are purely on the fact the maker Jules and her husband are awesome people and put love into every bottle. — 9 years ago
Velvety and dark, the gingerbread flavor sneaks up on you but doesn't linger. Crisp finish, especially in the back of your throat. — 9 years ago
A taste from a bottle that my regulars source from their row of grapes in Napa made by Bill Harlin (wine maker). Tannins for days. Dark Cherry — 10 years ago
Met the wine maker — 10 years ago
Citrus lemon, lime, orange peel, nice body, makes you smile Spatlese! Drank with the wine maker Max. — 11 years ago
Year is 2000. Couldn't get it on because of how the label is printed. Bought this in Northern Italy a few years back. Private tour of the winery with the maker himself! — 11 years ago
2005 vintage. At Cheval Blanc for dinner with Olivier, Pierre Lurton's young dynamic wine maker. Deep ruby hue. Very youthful, dark plum and stewed prune, savoury spice, leather tan, old wood spice. On the palate, silky satin texture, medium acidity, medium plus body and alcohol. Lots of fine tannins here. Great concentration and long finish. Excellent but still a baby with a Porsche Turbo engine. Drink 2025-2050+. 95 points — 7 years ago
The former Screaming Eagle Wine maker doesn't disappoint. Meaty and smooth! — 8 years ago
Really interesting SB. Yed this is me talking. Racy acidity depth mouth and presence of oak here is terrific -- oak is subtle, unlike my friend (the wine's maker) Felipe, :-) — 9 years ago
Great north coast cab. $14 from wine world. This is the same maker if a $35 cab from the same winery but the pricy one is from Napa — 10 years ago
By the same maker as Mark West Pinot Noir - I think I like this one better for a glass w/out food! A bit lighter in body, but same great taste. Try it!! — 10 years ago
Outstanding South African wine. Visited the winery and met the wine maker. — 11 years ago
Amazing wine for one as young as this, it tastes like a wine 10 yrs older.
95 merlot, 4% cab and 1% petit Verdot.
Intense color and concentrated flavors, this red is pretty stellar. The wine maker suggests this wine can be aged for 20 years. — 8 years ago
Tangerine queen. Strawberries, peaches, lilies, lavender, watermelon, tangerine. Great with the smoked pork tacos I had tonight. — 8 years ago
If I had one sentence to describe this wine, it is this: "Ca' Togni is the definition of desire." The vintage was a 2006, and let me tell ya, have the years been great to this mistress! Showing a deep brick red color, and a wine still showing all its wonderful fruits, with an expected maturity thrusting forth delightful complexity, this wine will make you love Black Hamburg! (Black Muscat) On the nose, notes of dried figs, dried rose petals, old leather, strawberry-rubarb jam, followed by a pallet of racy dark maraschino cherries, brown spices, and a vanilla finish. Phillip Togni is a hell of a wine maker out of Spring Mountain! I highly recommend trying one of these, even if it is $50, it was most certainly worth it! On top of that, it is 1 of only three wines he crafts, still in his 80's, still the king of the mountain. — 8 years ago
The 2007 vintage. Quite a rich full bodied Syrah made by ex Grange maker, John Duval. Has Northern Rhone meaty peppery notes but also lush fruit. Very satisfying. 18. — 9 years ago
First try of the 2013. Patty Green proves again she's probably the best Pinot wine maker in the Willamette Valley. Fantastic. I've yet to try a better Pinot for the money in Oregon. Wonderful. Love this wine. — 9 years ago
This wine has a great back story. The founder and wine maker is a recovering drug addict and replaced his "habit" with his efforts into creating these amazing wines. — 10 years ago
Blend of five varietals, we spent a couple hours with the wine maker, magnificent! — 10 years ago
I know the maker so I'm biased. — 11 years ago
