Great with food, or by itself. Very smooth — 8 years ago
First winery on day two in Sonoma was Donelan Family Wines in Santa Rosa with Meredith. The last Rhone varietal red was the Walker Vine Hill Syrah. Sadly we were told that this was the last vintage that will be produced. This bottling is made up of 100% Syrah and is around 40-50% whole cluster fermented then aged for 20 months in 25% new French oak. 1,025 cases produced.
Insanely dark and inky purplish ruby red, completely coats the glass. Dark berries on the start of the nose followed up by cinnamon, cocoa, blueberries and some dustiness. Medium plus tannins (7/10) with a full body. Rich and layered palate with red currants, red plums, even a touch of blue fruits and some solid minerality. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2028. Bordeaux-like barnyard nose. Excellent. — 9 years ago
Great zin. Totally different, thin, looked like Pinot — 10 years ago
Black cherry, cocoa, soft spice. Just delicious. — 10 years ago
Crushed Rock and slightly sweet flowers. Beautiful Russian River Pinot noir. — 11 years ago
Big bold and beautiful. The bouquet flies out of the glass. My little brother introduced to Gamba and loved it since. The 2011 Starr Road brings everything black in fruit. Black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry and even a little bit of black currant. Mellow tannins give a lasting finish that slides down like liquid silk. — 11 years ago
Dark and brooding with great acid. Amazing old vine field blend! — 12 years ago

Rarely do I enjoy Russian River Chardonnay like this. Not obtrusive oak use, delicate, nuanced, and fresh. — 11 years ago
Old vine California Carignane? Yes please! Great revelation for me. — 11 years ago

2010, big red. Loved it — 13 years ago
A very dark and deep color for a PN. Juicy cherry with spice and rose notes. Not earthy. Like it. — 7 years ago

I think Carol Sheltons Lodi pizazz zin is a great representation of Sonoma fruit. #massive, jammy. Just right for our first fire on a cool NJ night. — 8 years ago
Rich and bold . Bought as part of a Napa wine club — 9 years ago
I really enjoyed this wine. It's a sweet wine but I feel the higher alcohol content (12%) evens it out. If you like peaches and like sweet wine I'd recommend. — 10 years ago
Really drinking well! Lots of cherry with a bit of allspice- perfect holiday wine! — 10 years ago
Big, juicy, and fresh on the nose. Abv was out of whack and fruit was slowly dying on the palate. Enjoyable. #bucklin #syrah #oldhillranch — 11 years ago

Fantastic! Cloudy rich golden hue, mildly sweet but the main palette presence is honeysuckle and lime. — 7 years ago
