This wine is such a pleasant surprise still so young but very well balanced with a long life ahead. Only Manferrari can make a wine like this in Friuli. — 7 years ago

Nicola catena is the Robert Mondavi of Mendoza they advanced in 15 years what it took the rest of the world 200 years to get to this level. They take from the five family vineyards for this wine. The historic rows are now put on the label. This is the best vineyards and they look for the best location in those vineyards Angelica named after his mother and this is the mother clone material. All the wineries built in Spanish or Italian architecture. Dark berry fruit blackberry and blueberry fruit with notes of licorice spice dark tobacco spice. Another vineyard has a dessert effect because of its low altitude this site gives it structure. Adrianna vineyards is one of the highest and this is the most important violet flowers and freshness and acidity — 11 years ago

Smooth, a touch sharp, but a great glass! And many thanks to Nicola for the wonderful gift! — 12 years ago
Had another bottle, Wow! Laura Catena, 4th gen winemaker, grew up in Argentine-Italian winemaking family in Mendoza. Wines, named after her children - Luca, Dante & Nicola - background of the label is the McDermott coat of arms of her American husband, Daniel McDermott. Single-vineyard wine from land belonging to the Laborde family. Deep red with big ripe fruits & smoky oak. Palate plum & jammy blackberry, spice with nice earthy character. Tannins are a bit rustic, lingering ending with toasty oak & spice. — 6 years ago

Perfect wine to pair with Veal Osso Bucco and Pizza Nicola on the patio of Buona Forchetta. Medium body with soft tannins. Delicious. — 10 years ago

Delicious. Bitter as a homeless man's unwashed ballsack, but tasty — 11 years ago
— 6 years ago

Tangy and complex flavour. Very chatty wine. Stood up to some strong peppery flavours. — 9 years ago
First of all, go to Coquinarius in Florence. Nicola is a killer wine guy and friend. We had this our third and last time there (we were only in Florence for 3 days too...). This is still in a youthful and fruit-driven stage, with juicy and expressive sour cherries and a touch of orange peel. Score is for drinking now, but the structure and impression of density in the flavors make me want to check-in again at the 10 yr mark. — 10 years ago
