Dry Creek Valley Dry Grenache Rosé

2012, when the Grenache rosé was simply called "Vin Gris" and it is developing more savory notes with bottle age. Cranberry and tart cherry, with a touch of baking spice on the finish. Acid still plenty zippy! — 9 years ago

I wish they were not saignee, and picked a wee bit earlier, its always a tiny bit ripe in the mid palate for my personal taste. My GF who loves Tavel loves this style however

Yes Mike said that they left this on the skins a bit long, as it's more Tavel than Provence as was intended.

Luna Matta Vineyard Aglianico 2008

Wow! Great paso fruit with some sweet tannins. This is great but just a baby, the aglianico character comes in so well with fruit, tar, pepper, olive and you can't taste a hint of the 52 months this spent in barrel. Very unique. — 10 years ago

Florence Vineyard Zinfandel

This one aging gracefully. Primary fruity and floral aromatics have evolved into loamy dark fruits. On the palate it maintains its elegance and freshness and shows black cherry, black raspberry and subtler spice notes with a very satisfying finish! 2011 Vintage — 7 years ago

Merlot 2010

One of the best damn merlots I've tasted. If all merlot tasteed this good, the world would be a better place. Powerful currant and fig notes on the nose, mouth saturating tobacco, plum, and hints of cloves on the palette, all of which linger long after the swallow. Fanfreakingtastic! — 8 years ago

Estate Pinot Noir 2011

Drinking beautifully, this is their regular pinot that outpaces a number of "reserve" offerings from other wineries. Was a bit fruit-forward a couple of years ago, but has really integrated over the past two years. — 8 years ago

End of the Road High Road James Berry Vineyard Grenache Blend 2007

In 2010, Wine Spectator crowned James Berry's "Saxum" their Wine of the Year. The $75 bottle now is sold for $300 or more at auctions. However James Berry also sells his grapes to other wineries. Every year Villa Creek creates a James Berry Vineyard "High Road", but for the 2007 vintage they keep a selection in oak barrels for an extra 2 years. The result is the High Road "End of the Road". The aging and limited release brings a bottle to $100 (for non club members), but I now consider this a wine in my top 10 favorites. Think full bodied California Cabernet fruit blast meets elegant balanced French red. The sip glides over your tongue and waltzes with your taste buds. Caution, this bottle packs a subtle punch with 17% alcohol ... So share or call a cab! Wine Spectator rates it a 93. I would go higher! Cheers! — 11 years ago
