Bright, clear ruby with a great nose of cassis, blackberry, violet and mint.
Beautiful length and finesse. Great impression of crushed fruit with hints of forest floor and cedar. The finish leaves a lasting impression of sweet red fruit and supported by a soft blanket of tannins. This is the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove - just lovely — 7 years ago
Wow, incredible, and still holding up after all these years. Upon opening, basically no fruit, all secondary characteristics, especially on the nose. As it opened up, some dark cherry appeared and eventually the nose and palate came together. A sensory journey 48 Years in the making and a pleasure to partake. — 7 years ago
Deep garnet with amber rims, almost opaque. A little darker compared to the 82 CB next to it. Great old Bordeaux nose. Black fruit, pencil lead, plus some light notes of wood. Chewy in the mouth at first but over the night this goes to a velvet and silky place. The WOTN for me. Quieted down at the end of the night but gave us huge enjoyment, clearly outshining the 47 and 82 served with it. Tasting all these blind and then side by side over 4 hours is pretty awesome. — 8 years ago

An Orin Swift hallmark. 16 months in French Oak, 40% new. Blend of five Bordeaux Varietals. opens quickly with aeration to show black currants and chocolate covered raisins. Huge, chewy concentration yet smooth, velvet finish. Just awesome. — 10 years ago
Dark sweet rich plummy black cherry aromas, a dense mouth filling velvet texted wine, very showy and feminine, dark red fruits, new leather, wet earthy appeal. Feminine texture with manly character. Big brawny yet very fruit forward and smooth, a crowd please with long life ahead. — 11 years ago

Slightly over extracted and deeply concentrated, not something I usually enjoy much, but this is different. Aroma of black and blue fruits, dark chocolate, espresso that carry through the palate. Big and powerful in a velvet glove - wait, MollyDooker does have a bottle called Velvet Glove! The 16.5% abv was not noticeable. Immensely enjoyable. — 6 years ago

Love ChP when it’s got some age on it. (1998) Totally different beast and this was spicy velvet. — 7 years ago
Magnificent Bordeaux sample! Warm red fruits in the nose, with wet earthy notes. Smooth velvet tannins. I enjoyed it with miso-mushroom broth with dim sum with rabbit and wild mushrooms — 7 years ago

Easy. Smells okay. But it's not. Smooth. Dark fruit — 9 years ago
Oaky, but not too much, very full flavor with a velvet finish. A little bit of pecan, and a tart cherry flavor. VERY good. — 9 years ago
