Red, resinous currant with a licorice twist. Warm blackberry, dark toast, vanilla, cedar and sweet tabac seamlessly tailored, even at such a young age. Fresh gingerbread oven, too. Silk suit of tannins; loose stitching. Wound tightly showing sinewy potential and a Christmas cactus of sutured fruits bursting at the seams with liquid graphite and black currant reduction with fresh cassis and olive berry. Violets, treacle and black tea. Onyx train of a witch bride all the way down Howell mountain! #Dunn #DunnVineyards #napacab #napacabernet #Napa #howellmountain #howell #howellmtn #mountainwine #cabernetacademy #cabernetday #cabernetsauvignon #californiaclassic — 7 years ago
Dense red currant is ‘wrassled’ down by fennel aromas, mint and black cherry with strawberry and blackberry hidden beneath its thick canopy of fern and forrest; including moss and mushroom. Actually amazing! Not going to ever guess that this herbaceous monster with rim to rim colt density is an 11 yr old Calistoga! Meaty notes of grill and marinated fungi. Celeriac root, fennel and licorice notes define this angel with a minty coolness persisting! Blackberry and black cherry emerge in the finale to shine like young wine despite the years!#Larkmead #2007cab #Calistoga #Napa #napacab — 8 years ago
Mmmm this was very good. Good fruit concentration with an aroma right down my alley - dry fruit, smokey, earthy, earl grey and a little nutmeg. Full body, high tannins and a long finish, of course, for a Nebb ;) — 9 years ago
It's going down at the Tavern. — 9 years ago
A little too late, smoky but winds down quickly even in decanter, still worth the evening. — 11 years ago
OK, I’m in. This English sparkling wine thing is legit. Fresh, crisp and nicely balanced toasty biscuit character. — 6 years ago
Very enjoyable, found this very bold in the first taste and mellowed out towards the finish which was very smooth. Fruity and balanced. — 7 years ago
So beautiful and clear in its purpose, titillating on the nose and fulfilling its promises beyond. Balanced and velvety dark red fruit, hints of black tea and cassis but all in a more Old than New World Gestalt. Lots of secondary stuff emerging you just want to sip it slowly. If anybody wonders how well these age, track one down, it’s so worth it. Kudos @Cathy Corison for making this distinctive and enduring bottle! — 7 years ago

Outstanding as usual! I have to slow down - otherwise I'll drink through all my bottles of the 2000! — 10 years ago
Hands down the best wine I have ever had. The depth and complexity were outstanding — 10 years ago

Hands down. My favorite wine. — 12 years ago
Lekkerste rose die ik tot nu toe gehad heb. Licht droog en bloemig van smaak. — 7 years ago
Hey nowwww! Concentrated and earthy, sweet red fruit, graphite, crushed rock, ripe blackberry and licorice infused fig. Perfect compliment to prime filet and foie gras at hands down the best meal I’ve had this year. My sincere thanks to @Eric LaMasters for creating and “le mastering” the entire week! — 7 years ago

Very elegant but a tad reticent at the moment. Will give some more air and revisit. Edit: even with some more air time over two nights never really gave up too much. Could be the bottle is shut down at the moment or just might be what's left. — 7 years ago
Outstanding cab/merlot blend. Sister of sexual chocolate. Excellent price point. Around $20. — 7 years ago
One of my favourite wines. Crisp white. Not too acidic. Enjoy it again and again — 8 years ago
Hands down my favorite Cab. Excellent. Not too heavy. Received as a gift. — 10 years ago

A wine experience of a lifetime, we we enjoying a meal in Bordeaux Centre when our hosts poured this wine blind for us. They ask me to guess what it was. Since this was a long dinner, I had plenty of time. But I worked quickly and guessed Château Margaux. Why? I am not sure, but I went on and said that this wine was either the 1983 or 1986. I had no prompts; I didn't even know that it came out of our hosts cellar. It may have been on the wine list, I never even looked. I just broke down the wines elegance, excellent structure and softened tannins. Now before we get too excited here. I could have been a million miles away with my guess, but it wouldn't have matter. Right or wrong, close or far away, this is always a good exercise for those serious about be a well trained wine taster. The hosts and present company were actually amazed. One is never really wrong with their guesses, though to nail a wine out of the blue was really cool!😏#bordeaux #margaux #chateaumargaux #guessthiswine — 12 years ago

An absolutely stunning lunch from @joe leatherwood today. 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 5 reds and 1 dessert wine. All served blind.
What a total treat. My second glass of this was very different from the first glass. At first, I was getting a lot of honeyed tropical fruits with a good bit of yeast, but then it was more bright, and had caramelized Granny Smith apple notes and classic chalky limestone. This is right down the middle in terms of reductive vs oxidative. I wish I could have enjoyed this all on its own to give it the attention it deserved. I guessed this was ‘06 Le Mesnil. — 6 years ago
