Oh hey! Leave it to @Paul Treadway Huntington Beacher Bum to get me into a Scotch. This is delectable. My usual quibble with scotch is the smoke and this one has a whisper of it but it only serves to ballast the vanilla, honey and...marmalade? Of the rest of this. Tried neat and on a big cube o’ ice in a chilled glass and definitely recommend the latter. It is an evenings worth of delicate sipping. A ballerina. A delicate scotch. I’m a fan. I eat my anti-scotch words this one is for me. — 7 years ago
Probably my favorite from The Balvenie, this port wood-finished single malt has a great sherry character along with a sweetness, hint of smoke, and just enough bite (without any warer addition) to allow it to open up on the palate and show off some great retro aromatics. Long, lingering finish. Fantastic. — 8 years ago
Bloody good. It had to be as it cost the price of a small duchy.
I have a whole bottle of this greatness with me. Not a good idea.
Taste is sort of dry, not sweet and not bitter...all in equal mix. Taste of lots of stuff. It's been through different cask apparently. Bourbon, Madeira, Port...
Lovely aroma. Doesn't come to hit you right back. — 8 years ago
Honey followed by wisp of smoldering campfire. The perfect balance of everything? — 9 years ago
Said to be an element of oldest and rarest stock (35 to 40 yrs) stock of the distillery - chocolate raisins orange nose, butter pudding Carmel, lime, cashew, spice favor with dried floral finished. So rich like having a toffee, so delicious! — 6 years ago
Great, slightly sweet taste! A notch less than Johnny Walker Black Label! Had it with ice & a little bit of water! — 7 years ago
Love the smell of whiskey in the morning - happy birthday Dad — 7 years ago
Single malt with hints of rum. Some vanilla and/or honey. Favorite bottle at the moment — 8 years ago
Amazed for this price, the taste of a vintage Glenmorngie. How this single malt accomplishes this is bewildering. — 8 years ago
Only for special occasion. Good or bad. This one is still special — 9 years ago
Unfiltered and juicy, lots of acid. Full voltage. — 6 years ago
Very peaty, campfire smoke hits the nose immediately. There’s a hint of raisin and some tar, then a long saline finish. One of the best Islay’s I’ve had. It is a beast; consider yourself warned if you prefer a lighter or fruitier flavor profile. — 7 years ago
@Bill Bender Wish you and the remainder of the 🍷Wine Nerd Herd🍷 were here right now! This baby is going down so ever so smoothly! You would really dig it! And so would they!!! — 7 years ago
Interesting Czech wine. Great surprise and good for discussion. Very light, almost like a white wine. Fruity. Hint of sweetness, low/no tanin — 7 years ago

This scotch opens up with sweet dried fruit aromas. Really smooth and coats the whole mouth as is being drunk. Deep vanilla notes, the wood is much more subtle in this expression of balviene. Thoroughly enjoyable — 5 years ago
