Darrell Lea Raspberry Liquorice Twists on the nose, with hints of cherry cola and vanilla. Red fruit with a tarry undercurrent on the palate, plus bright acid and driving tannins. Enjoying this. — 6 years ago
A new first for me! Slovenian Sauvignon Blanc. Clean, fresh juicy, not veering too far into the super-pungent unripe gooseberry and blackcurrant territory. Pours a very pale green-tinged straw hue. Moderate concentration of aromatics of lime juice and zest, grapefruit pith and pulp, guava, wet stone, tarragon, and a lager-y leesy undercurrent. On the palate, the fruit character is riper and more guava-oriented, alongside more wet stone, tarragon + a bit of cilantro, and slightly lagery lees influence. Acid is medium (+) to high, dry, light body but with supple texture. Alcohol is medium (+ and ever so slightly hot on the palate but definitely at a tolerable level. Pretty solid stuff. — 7 years ago
Cherry and a real dark plume undercurrent going on. Really outstanding value. — 7 years ago
A lovely luscious chardonnay. White peach and grapefruit flavours with a saline undercurrent and lime peel setting off the palate. Very smooth with a creamy mouthfeel, but no evidence of malolactic fermentation except for a subtle hint of creme brûlée. The oak very restrained. The acid is quite subdued at this point, giving the wine great balance with a long lingering finish. Simply beautiful. — 8 years ago
Fresh stone fruit, floral and feminine but with a stony undercurrent. Delicious and will be even better in five years. — 8 years ago
Honeysuckle, funky, crabapple sour, undercurrent of savory elements — 10 years ago
Negrette. Aromatic, purple flowers and roses with loamy undercurrent.. Silky soft — 10 years ago
Sour cherries and a little caramel on the finish. Really tight at first... Better the second night. Lemon and grapefruit on the nose with an undercurrent of dark ripe red fruit. A little gamey and almost sweet (but not really). — 11 years ago
It’s good it’s gold it’s somewhat aged but still sharp on top of honey and apple sauce but enough of an undercurrent of mineral to say “hey I’m Vouvray” so I like this one for the general scrumptious nature and...solid predictability. Goodness. It is good-ness. — 5 years ago
Served at the proper temperature and allowed to breathe, this wine delivered rich plum and black berry fruit flavors with an undercurrent of earthiness. Wonderful expression of the Sangiovese grape. — 6 years ago
A fine vintage for Judge I reckon. This was singing with layers of complexity. Unctuous and saturated. Burnt rubber and popcorn. Rich lemon and pear. Strong undercurrent of mineral and flint. This is a big dollop of Chardonnay but never overdone. With grilled snapper, it was without equal. — 6 years ago
Gordons tasting Deiss 6/6/17. $20. No 2. Clean nose of white flowers and peach notes. Soft yet balanced palate that is silky yet with undercurrent of tension. Looking forward to the rest of lineup! Nice value. Blend of 13 varietals! Hope nose represents Alsace! Ripeness is goal. All natural. — 7 years ago
Great Pinot with perfect subtlety and balance. Light with notes of earth and minerals. Mild red fruit acts as undercurrent throughout. — 8 years ago
Citrus, minerals, acid with a slight undercurrent of yeast.

The Demière-Ansiot 2006 has the sort of flavor profile I adore in a Blanc de Blancs. Opens with lush, expressive aromas of kumquat peel, apricot, brioche and smoke. In the mouth, it's intense, generously layered with a fine, arching acid spine. Amid a rhythmic staccato of citrus and orchard fruit lies an undercurrent of mouthwatering salinity, crushed shell and sea foam, sweeping on through a lengthyand persistent finish. Bravo. Bravo. — 10 years ago
Gamey, pepper, super savory with a strong undercurrent of stone. — 10 years ago
In this ripe vintage, Chartron crafted an elegant wine replete with lemon, mineral and smoke. Bracing acidity, vibrant apple, pear and citrus fruit and a wonderful undercurrent of Stony minerality. Seductively long finish — 6 years ago
Imagine walking through a blueberry patch, munching on the freshly picked, sun-warmed blue beauties. This wine is blueberries for days, on the nose and on the palate with a mildly spicy undercurrent. Well rounded, soft tannins with a finish reminiscent of grape jelly. Paired with a strip loin and grilled veg. Enjoyed. — 6 years ago
Smell like rhubarb and strawberry. Bright fruitiness of Beaujolais but has a raw undercurrent. Medium acid, velvety tannins, sheer drinkability. — 7 years ago
Round and supple body with dark black fruit on display. Black licorice and olive undercurrent helps keep it interesting and somewhat savory. — 8 years ago
Dark stone fruit, little currants. Undercurrent of violets. — 9 years ago
A LOT more austere than I expected, tastes almost young. Nose took time to develop, even with lots of air. I'm a little suspicious about how this bottle was stored. There's almost zero penetration of the cork suggesting lots of upright storage? The ulage was normal-seeming, just a small visible gap beneath the foil. What nose there is has hints of mint, cedar and something candied, like dates. On the palate, surprisingly moderate intensity (12.5% pre-fruit-bomb era), tannic structure still very evident at 24 years, but considerably softened down to fine grain. Plummy, black cherry flavored, with that confected undercurrent. Finishes long and tannic. Cut through very rich lamb shank stewed in red wine, caramelized onions, shallots, and rosemary. Still developing with dark chocolate dessert. — 10 years ago
Day two wine opened still lush with firm tannins and an undercurrent of sweet black fruit. Nice length on the finish. — 11 years ago

A fantastic, serious wine and a fantastic deal. Really classic Morey st Denise. An enchanting and intoxicating nose with dark fruit, sweet earth, meaty notes, bay leaf and thyme; a hint of leather and game, maybe eucalyptus or amaro and an ethereal undercurrent of natural woods, woodsy without oaky or vanilla notes. Powerful, Round, rich, silky and savory on the palate. Not at all opulent but just in a great window with some resolves tannins despite still having a strong tannic spine. Baking spices followed by Sweet earth and sandalwood dominate a long finish. With air, also get a long dark cherry note, maybe some chocolate covered cherry. Deeper and more exotic savory notes. SIlky, plush and an earthier expression of a chambolle. Serious, and maybe even sexy ;-) — 5 years ago
