Turley made this wine from 1994-2010 and to me it was always the benchmark for the varietal during that era. The 13.9% alcohol was probably the lowest in Turley's lineup back in 2002. Their Charbono has always been a sneaky good ager and this is no exception. Probably already on a slow decline now I wouldn't hold on to these much longer. The Tofanelli family now keeps their own fruit. I'll have to try their version one of these days. — 7 years ago

2017 Turkey Zinfandel from Howell Mountain. I called the color deep purple. First thing that hit me is very creamy nose… vanilla cream that fills some donuts (heavy malo?). Fresh blueberry… lots of berries, it’s a berry salad. Also dried prune/fig, some chocolate and baked spices. Solid wine! I need to drink more zin!! — 8 months ago
Color dark with no bricking. Bought on release. Balanced with good mouth feel and long finish. Mostly black fruit overtones. Drinking very well. — 4 years ago

Wonderful - great to drink now but could still sit for a few years if you want something with stronger flavors. Dark berry flavor, sweet cigar vanilla oak. Low acid, medium tannins, well balanced. — 6 years ago
Never would suspect 15.6 abv blind tasting this. — 7 years ago
