Creamy, round, less acidic than the Les Jarriers. Lemons and limes, floral and pleasant minerality. Dash of some sort of smoke?
Served with salmon in orange-ginger marinade.

Look, most of the crew came to play, as you can see. They brought the Napa cults in spades. We wanted to spoil the U.S. party, so we dropped this into the mix.
It was a change of lanes, but the Angelus was on cruise control. Different genre in relation to the Napa penis extensions, but it held its own. I suppose, as a European, I would characterize this as an intellectual wine. Donald Trump may not appreciate this... 😊 — 8 years ago

Excellent Cabernet by the Farm Worker. The American Dream. Screw Trump. This is a full bodied, deep red, good tannins, smooth and great with filet. Wonderful meal tonight. — 8 years ago
Really straightforward offering with solid balance of acidity, body and sweetness. The Merlot profile gives that classic Monticello AVA taste...lush and lively yet having a austere elegance in the finish! Good value at 14$ ;) — 8 years ago
Huge attack leads to a subtly sweet midpallate and a slightly sour finish. Wonderful floral bouquets on the nose. — 9 years ago

A great example of how great producers can trump challenging vintages. Rain, pest pressure and hail were present in 2014 for the N. Rhône. This wine is beautiful and shows just how transparent Syrah can be in the right hands. Dark fruit notes, crushed granite, animal, damp leather, dried violets, warm spices. The tannins are raw and lively without being overbearing and balanced by a stern acid note. Mainly press wine I believe. Classic Cornas — 7 years ago
Absolutely terrific wine. Bound to uplift even the most doomy-gloomy mood. As such, it pairs well with political discourse and the prospect of "President Trump." Go ahead, drink those sorrows away. You deserve it.
Beautiful, shimmering golden color. I believe it's actually already deepening with age. (2012 vintage consumed in mid-2016)
On the nose, apricot fruit and unrefined honey dominate but is accompanied with a menagerie of rare and precious aromatics. The result is a feeling of having something truly exotic in your glass. This is a world-class wine for which there could never be any argument over its worthiness. You will be taken by this wine and there's really no way to over-hype it and set the expectation bar too high because this wine will meet it every time.
As we dig in deeper past the obvious top notes, we discover a treasure chest filled with persimmon, sandalwood, white flower, and vanilla bean.
Upon first entry in the mouth you are met with a zippy liveliness but then that melts gently across your palate to really give you a fine, pervasive coating that excites the taste buds in every corner of your mouth. This is a POWERHOUSE of assertive flavor. This wine will stage a veritable coup d'etat upon your complacent palate. There will be an ouster of your resident ennui. No incumbent sense of boredom will be safe from this wave of populist essence. There will be a complete and total transition of power in the halls of your mind's parliament leading to a peaceful but efficacious revolution. With your personal Congress in shambles, this fresh new confederacy shall draft a Constitution that will usher in a new era of utopian cooperation and transcendental civic euphoria!
Sorry, maybe for a little carried away there. For reals though. Drink this wine when you're feeling down and feel the BURN! Well, not really - because the alcohol is really well-integrated. ;) — 8 years ago
Ted Cruz won't drink it. Donald Trump doesn't drink. More for me! — 8 years ago

Here's a free lesson for you - the three fundamental things you look for in a vintage Barolo are curry powder, gun powder, and baby powder. This '98 vintage is a testament to why more producers should go back to the fundamentals. What makes this wine particularly unique is the producers ability to include MDMA without altering the mouthfeel. Excellent to pair with an overly cooked Trump steak showered in ketchup and lies. — 7 years ago
Excellent red blend. Trump destroyer with another successful migrant worker making excellent wine. Good structure and character. Deep red full bodied and berry driven. Wonderful with Sunday gravy Italian meat balls Italian sausage red sauce and spaghetti at Just Dinner in Houston. — 7 years ago
In retrospect, I guess I should have drunk an American wine on election night, but I'll justify this by saying I might decide to Spain if Trump wins. Anyway, this is pretty damn tasty. I need it tonight! Go Hillary! — 7 years ago
Woo hoo, very nice. Fig, blueberries, jammy notes, lovely nose of licorice and dense dark fruits. Violets. Geraniums. Plums. Sweet tobacco.
100% Syrah $28 at Plum market.
Big day for us. We'll see what happens.
What kind of political party would be trying to chose between Trump and Cruz?! How about toothache or diarrhea? Crazy. — 8 years ago
Yummy Zinfandel. With a spicy stirfry last night and cheese and crackers tonight.
Why in the world would anyone vote for either Ted Cruz or Donald Trump?! Both clearly dangerous and unfit for public office.
Is that me or the Zinfandel speaking? Ha ha. — 8 years ago

Gorgeous nose filled with fresh-picked roses, juicy, opulent black cherry fruit, and bright limestoney minerality. Smooth-textured and bone dry but with zingy acids and very pure tasting cherry fruit. Also, too, stones. Really good.
