Recently purchased by Bill Foley of Foley Family Wines, continuing traditions of Fred Furth who founded Chalk Hill in 1972, which encompasses 280 acres of vineyards. A blend of 84% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Sauvignon Gris and 6% Sauvignon Musque, the latter 2 adding an interesting dynamic to the wine and distinctive aromas. One of the few SB's to see some oak giving this wine complexity. Peach, herb and earthy tones, well balanced with acidity, smooth yet robust on a lingering finish ending with citrus notes. — 8 years ago
This winery is a special place for us. We visited there the day before we were married. An smaller, older winery following their time honoured traditions. — 9 years ago
Quite famous in certain European circles and for a good reason. Yes, it is semi-sweet, built in old traditions as 200-300 years ago people liked sweet wines, but this one is neither too sweet or too simple. To a listed on back label, and very true, bouquet of cherries, blackberries, and prunes I would add chocolate. — 10 years ago

A small, family-run domaine now in its 5th generation. Cathy & Cedric aim to strike a balance between the old and the new, with wines that respect the traditions of their ancestors but have one foot firmly in the present.100% Gamay, bright red with red fruit aromas and oaky pepper notes. On the palate cherry flavors with espresso, oak and vanilla, soft tannins on lingering finish. Good balance. — 8 years ago
Terrific southern Rhone wine, with dark fruit weighted toward the finish and a lovely mouthfeel to it. One for winter and another great find from Wine Traditions. — 8 years ago
More apple than a mac and-with 18% alcohol- more spice than Old Spice. Elegant bottle wraps up a killer ensemble — 9 years ago
Wow. Classic juice infused with the traditions of the region. And I've never met a more humble passionate owner than Maria Laura Brunelli. — 10 years ago

Great to meet Ellen Cavalli co-owner of Tilted Shed today and hear about their journey into cider making. Loved this cider! — 10 years ago
This signals all the traditions that I associate with great traditional wine. Just the way it looks in a decanter engages the room. Each bottle is a bit different I find.. Overall, dry and very lean tannins, beautiful acid, crystal clear and nicely balanced. I wouldn't hesitate sitting on a case, but there are so many other wines that place for me in this price range. Half case though! — 11 years ago

Slate in spades! Lots of smoke, flloral nuances, candied lemon, Reine Claude, apricot and bruised red apple. Very precise and well-defined in its aromatics.
What I think is remarkable of this wine is the way how airyness, elegance and detail are balanced with the impressive concentration of minerals and creamy fruit in the mid-palate. A modern-day Mosel Riesling, though made with lots of respect and attention for the Mosel traditions. What a gorgeous wine. Bravo.

The Allegrini family has been handing down wine producing traditions over many generations. Giovanni Allegrini was the founder of the new generation and one of the first to question local viticultural techniques, and revolutionized changes to accepted practices. Dark red with aromas of dried dark fruits and herb. On the palate cherry and strawberries flavors with cacao notes, flint and mineral tones. Soft smooth tannins well balanced with acidity on a long smooth finish. Will continued to get better. — 8 years ago
Josep Mitjans continues to be a top winemaker in Penedes and Ops is a great reflection of his love for Carignan and Garnatxa. Ops follows biodynamic traditions and is named after the Roman goddess of the harvest. Fruity and potent with smooth tannins. — 10 years ago

Some of the best wines that the Yadkin Valley has to offer comes from McRitchie Winery & Ciderworks. This is their signature red. It's a big and bold Bordeaux blend that can't be missed. Perfect with filet! — 12 years ago

Very energetic acid profile and a beautiful classic northern rhone character coming through this gamay. This is an amazing cross section of ideas, concepts, and traditions that is everything I expect it to be. Wonderful. — 8 years ago
