A #fullbodied #spicy and #mediterranean #wine from #ibiza. Shows true #monastrell #mouvedre aging well. Almost impossible to find — 9 years ago
At Michael's in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island doing the Honeymoon and Michael is the winemaker of this really special and small production blend of Cab Franc and Syrah called Qone'. Impossible to find anywhere else so the bottom line is that Colette and i get to say "nyaaah nyaaah we got some and you didn't" to all of you out there in Delectable-land. — 9 years ago
2011 vintage. Clos des Rosiers Monopole. How odd: this tiny monopole a stone's throw from Clos des Lambreys, is not even Premier Cru, although when the vines reach their 18th year this might change. The Clos, which incorporates a flower garden, watering-hole for ducks and chickens, along with Torpedo, the Domaine's faithful dog, produces an elegant silky approachable wine that punches above its lowly position on the AOC totem pole. For those looking for a bargain, it would be hard to find better as there's really no logical reason why this plot is inferior to the one over the other side of the wall. — 10 years ago

Nose of slightly syrupy and jammy blue fruits of; olallieberries, blueberries, huckleberries, black raspberries, blackberries, spiced plums, dark cherries, dark cherry cola, expresso roast, dried dark flowers, spice, cinnamon & anise, dry stems and leather. On the palate, full bodied, round, juicy with fine powdery tannins and darkly elegant. Fruits, of; blueberries, olallieberries, black raspberries, blackberries, plums, dark cherries, cinnamon, nutmeg. mocha powder, light vanillin, anise, espresso roast, black tea, soft leather, finely dry crushed rock powder, graphite, underbrush, poached strawberries hit the long palate set, dark rich earth, dry red flowers, liquid violets and notes of tarriness. The finish is nice resolved dark tannins, great balance of fruit & earth, solid structure, nice tension, rich, full elegance and perfect acidity that rains over the palate. Lail owns and uses fruit from two estate vineyards; the Totem Vineyard in Yountville; which is part of the original Inglenook vineyard estate. This vineyard is named after a Totem pole that was the founder of Inglenook Winery, Gustav Niebaum. Their Mole Hill vineyard is located high on the slopes of Howell Mountain at about 1600 feet. Still has 8-10 years of good life ahead of it. Photos of the Lail Vineyards and small estate building without a tasting room. — 8 years ago
