Enjoyed this with friends in Steamboat. A crowd pleaser and a smooth, delicious red. — 7 years ago
Still young, I'll keep my other '85 Taylor's cellared for at least 5 more years... — 8 years ago
Rioja has never been my favorite spanish region. Ribera del Duero's, and Toro's finely crafted wines have always casted a shadow on their riojan counterparts.
But Rioja has payed attention, and is picking up the pace. This wine is beautiful. Rustic chic beautiful. Not Elizabeth Taylor's kind of beauty, but surely, Sophia Loren's. — 8 years ago
Plum, blackberry, candy apple, fig newtons, and insects on the nose, very soft tannins, nicely balanced heat and acidity. Lingering finish. Nice. — 9 years ago
Lovely flavour and key for me is a gentle aftertaste. — 9 years ago
Great if you can pick it up for $16. Similar to Taylor's Shiraz. 2013 vintage — 9 years ago
Complex, leather and vegetation. Lovely body and nose. Wish I had bought more. — 10 years ago
Delicious!! Comparable to Taylor's, but smoother. Blended flavors well so you were tasting the best of everything (strong, sweet, & smooth). — 11 years ago

£40 Toro joint rev'd w/ Ed Bozzard & Timothy Joint 👍 that needs more time in bottle or a serious decant (this was dbl decanted 24 hrs before) the structure is similar to Pintia 😉
🍷 Dark ruby red
👃Tar, minerals, earth & ripe black fruits w/ coffee punching through & light smokey oaks wiffs
👄 Med+ dark plumpy sweet fruit body with fine dry tannins that need air/time w/ big coffee kick
🎯 Med+ dark drying fruit punchy coffee finale
Decant 3-4hrs+ & better with food 👍 — 7 years ago

Powerful and delicious, the way 1990's era JCVD must have been. Took a while to open up, and would have benefited from an extra 5 years in the cellar, the way a 1980's Timothy Dalton must have been. — 10 years ago
Delicious Timothy Olsen Pinot Noir 2013 — 11 years ago
Strong & sweet. Similar to Taylor's. — 11 years ago

Per Steve Taylor's cellar at HCC, TN 2017 — 7 years ago
From pre-phylloxera vines, Taylor's bought a small lot of only three barrels from the 1863 vintage that had been quietly resting in a cellar for well over a century—the producer had the foresight to reserve them when phylloxera swept through the region. An important wine because, as Taylor's staff pointed out, ungrafted vines no longer exist in the Douro. An incredible experience, and one that I felt lucky to have since the winery has fewer than 12 bottles remaining.
There is an incredible, concentrated sweetness on the nose; coffee, vanilla, maple syrup, and dried tobacco leaf. In the mouth, lacquered elegance, a long toffee-hued ribbon slowly unfurling, like removing a sheet from an ancient mahogany bureau, there is dust and warm wood and leather, layered against dates, dried orange skins and burnt sugar. Spiciness and minerality emerge on the finish, filtered sunlight through ancient glass and sea salt captured by time and slow evaporation. — 8 years ago
Pairs well with Guardians of the Galaxy — 9 years ago
It had a raspberry kind of flair. This was Taylor's favorite cheap wine. — 9 years ago
Beautiful wine! Limited edition, only 10 barrels produced, from the Mont LaSalle vineyard, in homage to Brother Timothy, of the Christian Brothers — 9 years ago
40 tawny: most elegant, complex and balanced of the bunch, medium + bodied, with elegant but persistent layers that keep coming wave after wave. Great acidity and super clean and long finish that sails on forever. — 11 years ago
Michael Ardolino
Toffee and cream brûlée in the nose, mellow, mild sweetness and a hint of wood throughout with a nice finish. Second best at Taylor's today. — 7 years ago
