Sometimes that shark, he looks right into you. Right into your eyes. You know the thing about a shark, he's got...lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then, ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin' and the ocean turns red and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin' they all come in and rip you to pieces.
Y'know by the end of that first dawn, lost a hundred men! I don't know how many sharks, maybe a thousand! I don't know how many men, they averaged six an hour. On Thursday mornin' chief, I bumped into a friend of mine, Herbie Robinson from Cleveland. Baseball player, boson's mate. I thought he was asleep, reached over to wake him up. Bobbed up and down in the water, just like a kinda top. Up ended. Well... he'd been bitten in half below the waist. Noon the fifth day, Mr. Hooper, a Lockheed Ventura saw us, he swung in low and he saw us. He's a young pilot, a lot younger than Mr. Hooper, anyway he saw us and come in low. And three hours later a big fat PBY comes down and start to pick us up. You know that was the time I was most frightened? Waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a lifejacket again. So, eleven hundred men went in the water, three hundred and sixteen men come out, the sharks took the rest, June the 29, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb. — 11 years ago
Session time! Smooth and clean as watermelon rind with a carrot cake muffin on the side, nose wise. A mousse like grand cru bubbles. Slippery lacing, so just iodine deficiency on the glass, at best. Sweet carrot in sugared lemon water, yellow strawberry, white raspberry, red grapefruit, soft lemongrass bready and doughy at times, but airy like angel food. Just the beer for a late night after a long day. No need to contemplate further. — 9 years ago

Trying to decide between the Aubert and this...somm recommend the '03 Marcassin - very wise man indeed - incredible oak and finish - nutty - still light color in the glass - aging very well — 9 years ago
Full bouquet and body. Black berries and tobacco with a hint of vanilla. Silky tannins covering the palate with long maintained finish. Wonderful for a three Wise Man Dinner with the best company. — 9 years ago

Nice. Not a lot of body, but worth the price. — 12 years ago

This was a combination of red fruit that was ready to drink and some oregano and tobacco that kind of clashed just a tiny little bit. The wine itself had great fruit density getting started, but then changed into a herbaceous red fruit with a hint of pipe tobacco that made one wonder if this was just in an interesting place getting STARTED or whether or not this wine was almost completely done. I was perhaps a little cautious about this wine because it just seemed to have a little more jagged lines than the 11 Kosta. I'm not sure if this one was already showing signs of decline. After taking 10 other wines thoughout the night, this one was one of the "last men standing" and I had a lot of personal guilt tossing the remaining 25ml. — 8 years ago
