Over the hill. Not undrinkable, but not as intended. Tough to describe and better with food.

Revising up it’s getting better or I’m assimilating to it. Might need like a 3hr decant :)

Would lean towards the decant and the 55-60 degree range to maximize.

La Marginale Saumur-Champigny Cabernet Franc 2022

Really an excellent cab franc. Have had stuff from Thierry Germain before but not this bottling. Perfect with a variety of Syrian dishes at Damas in Montreal. Bright, restrained fruit, excellent acid. Nice finish. — 5 months ago

Meursault Chardonnay 2021

2021 vintage. Part of a portfolio tasting through 25 white/red Burgs. Some aggressive, frontal oak that mellows out a bit as it goes down. Medium/medium-heavy body. For village swill, this covers the bases quite nicely. 9.29.25 — 4 days ago

Cornas Reynard (R) Syrah 2014

Medium ruby , quite wide medium ruby garnet rim . This is quite aromatic , with earthy sous bois , violets , black pepper , garrigue . On the palate quite elegant and dark fruited , bright acidity and quite strict tannins . Good cassis, blackberry , menthol touches , sous bois , grafite finish . This is ready and drinking well but will probably continue at this level for another 5-10 years or so. At Drouant Restaurant, Paris . — 3 months ago

No @Dave , just here for a couple of days …. So any suggestions of places to go are very welcome ! Was impressed by the wine lists at Drouant to be honest , lots of depth and prices that were really quite reasonable, and the food was pretty good too …

I'm not sure where you're staying, but i always hang out at Robert et Louise. It's got a nice vibe, great food, and a sensible wine list. Prices are pretty good, too. Just across the river from Notre Dame. https://www.robertetlouise.com/

Red currants, smoke, herbs, with laser like precision. Palate is energetic, sappy and so dense, but wow that energy. Unreal freshness and acidity. Outrageous length and complexity. — 5 months ago
