It's the hottest it's been here in a very long time. Way hotter...setting a new record high. So, this tastes especially good tonight. The lean fruits of; strawberries, cherries, black cherry, black raspberries and tangerine are unmistakably wonderful. The edgy powdery chalkiness that cuts across the fruit I really appreciate. It's near perfect. Nice edgy volcanic minerals, baguette, great acidity and beautiful finish. It remains our go to NV Rosé Champagne. Out of 375ml — 8 years ago
Excellent well rounded wine. Perfect for a casual setting and wide range of pallets. — 8 years ago
Just about fucking perfect in this setting. Yeasty and balanced with mango, oyster shell, lemon zest, and an everlasting finish. PN gives so much depth. Nectarine. — 9 years ago
This wine conjures a specific setting for me: just-chilled, with pork sausages, next to a fireplace, snow falling outside. It has just enough sugar to make this luscious if you're drinking it as a dryish white. The flavors are exotic and almost flamboyant with fresh peaches, fresh lemon zest, and more subdued but rich candied orange and bitter grapefruit peels. There's a hint at some non-fruit savoriness--is it smokiness?--that makes me want to explore what one of these with 5-10 year of age is like. — 9 years ago
First Gagliopo, and setting the bar high. Robust, almost beastly, persistent. — 10 years ago
Setting the bar high for bubbly Chardonnay! — 11 years ago
Nice blend and affordable. Grenache, Petit Syrah and Syrah. Family owned nestled in the Santa Cruz Mts. On 18 acres in a beautiful serene setting. — 12 years ago
Nice white blend we bought at tasting. Aroma of floral and rose leads to citrus at the end. Paired with setting on the patio on a summer day. — 7 years ago
Can’t go wrong with Russian River Valley.
Paired well with Salmon. Nice price point, so more affordable in restaurant setting — 8 years ago
Almost can't go wrong with 82 Latour. Even a off bottle can be a great bottle. This drank young from a OWC. Classic and almost untouchable in any setting. — 8 years ago
I don't understand Caymus-haters. Sure, the setting didn't hurt, but with a half-hr decant the nose was rich cassis, vanilla. Showing a little age, the dark red fruit, tobacco and oaky-rich tannins were smooth as silk. Ready but could go for 5-10 years. Not sure I could've picked this out from an '05 Special Selection I tried a few months back. — 9 years ago
Maybe it was the bonfire and the setting but this drank really well. I've often thought Swift's wines were a bit overrated but this was an amazing bottle. Extremely complex, soft finish. Loved it — 10 years ago
One of my favourite Languedoc whites. Made in small quantities from old Rousanne and Rolle (vermentino) vines. Densely packed with fruit, minerals, and and plenty of acidity. One of the truly fine and hitherto fore relatively unknown jewels of the Languedoc! [incidentally I opened a bottle from the cellar two days later which wasn't half as good - was it the setting, bottle variation, or company?] — 10 years ago

The wine is influenced by the wonderful setting. Young and tummy with great fruit — 11 years ago

This rating is heavily based on setting. But solid summer drinking choice. — 12 years ago
Eating life changing chicken, with Rod, Pam, Joe and Claudia- crazy good Brunello at an amazing setting — 7 years ago
Truly the name of the wine says it all. Drank the whole thing in an hour of paddling around a lake in a swan on a beautiful day in Copenhagen. It's not worth giving a description of the wine as I continuously find that in the concept of set and setting sometimes wines are just the magic wand in the middle of a beautiful storm. If you make this your wine, make it a great moment, it's worth it. — 9 years ago
At a wine bar in Seoul. The legit somm said only two places in korea carried Maybachs at all. Perfect age, ripe. Can't help the company and setting from perhaps some score inflation but it was a great unexpected bottle — 9 years ago
I love this wine! We are enjoying it on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at a picnic on Long Island. The acidily is dominant but nicely balanced by a backbone of citrusy fruit and minerality flavors. Really lovely and perfect for the setting! Thanks to Steve for the recommendation! — 10 years ago
Reminds me of a crispy sun-setting eve overlooking Sonoma vineyards: ahhhhh — 10 years ago
Best vineyard visit in Napa. Beautiful mountaintop setting and great wine. — 10 years ago
One of my favourite reds. Like an old world wine but not too heavy and no distinct tannins that are overpowering. Great with beef. Quail's Gate winery is beautiful - spectacular setting with friendly knowledgeable staff. The restaurant menu and service great. Weather permitting sit outside and "drink" it all in! Chef stopped by our table with fresh picked strawberries still warm from the sun which were delicious - a real table side treat! They also grow their own herbs. This winery is in the Top 10 in the Okanagan for sure! — 11 years ago
Front label promised a Sunrise Setting but back label settled for something more arborial — 12 years ago

Love this Luberon red blend. Rich and even earthy, cherry, plum. Great setting at the vineyard with a view of Bonnieux. There was even a Roman bridge around the corner. — 7 years ago
