Baby prisoner, like it used to be. Give me brisket ! — 5 years ago
Nice oak and butter. — 6 years ago
Awesome - made by Prisoner guy. At cork and cracker. — 6 years ago
I loved this bottle so much for the price that I did some research. It appears that Trader Joe's arranged for production of this wine, which was allegedly designed to be a copy cat of Orwin Swift's Prisoner. I must pick up more the next time I'm at TJ. — 7 years ago
Nice peppery, cranberry, oak start, with well rounded smooth finish. Great alternative and perhaps a bit better than Prisoner for less $$$. — 7 years ago
Wonderful red blend. Poor man's Prisoner. — 8 years ago
Re runs of Baywatch. Hot dogs. Slip n Slides. Aint nothing wrong with celebrating and proudly admiring the gratuitous and guilty pleasures in life. This stuff is great! After all.....no reason to be a "prisoner" to over priced gunk. Nor regard something as a "special selection" when its mass produced to the tune of 45000 cases. Less than 15k made of this bad boy! And did I mention.... A glow in the dark label!? Genius! Mustache rides anyone? — 9 years ago
Figgy, nutty, jammy, and great. No Prisoner, but excellent for $20 less. — 11 years ago
2016 is 83% Zin & 17% Petite Sirah. More Zin than 2015. Again, if you miss the old Prisoner this is the wine for you. — 4 years ago
It is close to the Prisoner but not 100%
Slightly less spicy but a very smooth and clean finish. — 5 years ago
This is Dave Phinney’s first Zinfandel-based wine since the noncompete associated with his sale of the Prisoner expired; hence the name. Popped and poured. Bold red and dark fruits with a significant amount of anise and black pepper. Medium tannins and a decent amount of acid to give the large amount of fruit some lift. A touch hot...the alcohol showing more as time went on. A fun wine to try and better than I expected but I can already feel palate fatigue setting in. Thanks Neal! — 6 years ago
Not sure it deserves the 95 points Parker bestowed on it, but a good Prisoner style blend nonetheless! — 7 years ago
A very rich and dense Napa County red wine that resembles many common labels like The Prisoner, or perhaps some of Orin Swift's current selections. Blackberries, blueberries, plums, and loads of baking spices. Not entirely complex but still delicious, nonetheless. — 7 years ago
Great prisoner like blend — 7 years ago
A solid cheaper option for fans of the prisoner — 8 years ago
Flavorful robust and distinctive. Softer overall than The Prisoner — 9 years ago
Excellent! Liked it more than Prisoner but this might be one of my favorites — 9 years ago
Rich flavors, agreed that a similarity with Prisoner ... very drinkable and enjoyable — 5 years ago
Holy cow! Look out Prisoner! Venge comes through again. — 6 years ago
Similar yet better than The Prisoner — 6 years ago
Close to Prisoner. — 6 years ago
Like the Prisoner — 7 years ago
Great wine, smooth, mild, with a long finish. Supposed to replicate Prisoner. — 7 years ago
If you like Prisoner but want it at half the price, Phantom is about as close as you can get. Tastes great and pairs with all red meats and pastas. — 8 years ago
Much better than prisoner — 8 years ago
A kin to the prisoner. Very good, spicy — 9 years ago
Huge wine. For fans of nonsense like The Prisoner, but half the price and better. — 9 years ago
