This run of about 13 PHENOMENAL wines I'm posting are from the SQN wine dinner/WNH interview I did at @Shawn R 's house last night. I was like a kid in a candy store on Christmas. What an absolutely EPIC night! Love ya brother!
Ok, so, wow, you know the night is going to be insane when this is the welcome sparkler! Rosé champagnes are becoming a favorite of my wife and I and Shawn seems to be the man when it comes to them. I've never had Krug Rosé, but I can't imagine it being better than this. The fresh strawberries, kiwis and knock your socks off acidity on this made me a believer in this stuff. — 9 years ago

Its kind of like noticing a kid that's going places and you can't wait to see what they become. — 10 years ago
Costco, $12
Dark ruby, quite opaque. Dusty wood and fruit on the nose. Medium body, maybe a touch too acidic and just enough tannins. Kind of a savory fruit, reminds me of fruit punch as a kid as far as flavor goes but not in sweetness, it's actually quite dry. Keep tasting fruit punch in a good way and very happy for the price, although Costco probably has it cheaper than it usually is, rating it at the $12 I spent though. — 5 years ago
Birth year wine kid #1 — 6 years ago
Dry, tart, light but not too much. Mild mineral finish. Refreshing — 9 years ago
Super dry, you might even miss that it's Apple but that's okay. Half way into most ciders I'm over it, no such problem here. Which is good because it's comes in a 650mL bottle. — 9 years ago
This brawny Rutherford SB is much like that kid that joined the marines just for fun. Bronzed pear color. Fat legs coat the glass upon initial swirl. Robust, rich and perhaps almost pine-tinged flavors of lime and kiwi. Bold, with a nice, weighty mouthfeel. Has body and bite. Was very lucky to find this wine indeed. Yellow flowers and a slight honeyed essence from the Semillion with a present minerality. I think zesty is a great adjective for this Rutherford SB — 9 years ago

Always like tasting Syrah’s and this from Italy is no exception. This is pretty aromatic with obvious pepper tones and an vegetational characteristics. Not like floral to me but more like the smell of brush in the summertime. Odd and most likely incorrect but something I remembered from being a kid. I think it drank well. A little warm on the mouth. The berries come through and there was a touch of green pepper. Side note I had this with bulgogi and that flavor could have been an off shoot of the meal. It really went well with the meal. Overall, this is a fun bottle of wine to drink. Good price point and good with the right foods. — 7 years ago
First impression was that the boring kids from school has crashed the party. Fake out! 30 minutes in and it's pretty obvious that you picked the wrong wine for dinner. From meh to man! Complex and concentrated, full and friendly. But underage. This kid should not have been invited to the party. — 9 years ago
I'm getting something that reminds me of the spices at Herman Alpert meat company in CT when I was a kid. Love this for $15. — 9 years ago
紀士 draft Junmai Ginjo that burst with flowers in a medium body and bubbly state — 9 years ago
Really awesome Riesling - a fun trip down memory lane. The nose is just pure heaven with an extremely rich palate. Not quite as much acidity as on their Rangen grand crus but really decadent and easy drinking. Turns me into a Kid at a candy shop. $18/glass at Sepia — 10 years ago

2017 vintage. The Côtes de Bordeaux is a fantastic playground for value seekers and this Castillon is no exception. To be honest I feel sorry for owner Patricia Aroldi that she has to sell a biodynamical wine of this quality at such a low price (4,95 euro consumer price, I kid you not!). A blend of 86% merlot and 14% cabernet franc. Bright red fruit and flowers in the nose. Good fruit concentration and ripe tannin structure with vibrant acidity and more than decent length. Very easy to drink now, but this should age well for a few years. Highly recommended. Abv. 13%. Vignobles Gabriel & co. — 5 years ago
