The jury is out as of now for this wine. My current tasting of this private label, Caymus produced Cab, shows aromas of ripe dark fruit and herb notes. On the palate, cherry, blackberry and sweet currant flavors with hints of cacao and earthy bramble tones. Fully developed tannins on the smooth finish. Caymus wines are noted for being approachable while young, but will 1858 stand up with some time? May be a little pricy at $50. I will check back with 1858 in a few years. thinking this was the 2014 reserve release.... it's unico and me likey unico. jury still out for me on whether or not the blending to achieve the house style is the way to go. had some lesser vintages that reservations beat but also some killer single vintages that smoke the reserva. all about the dirt and those great vintages are the ones that have it. — 10 years ago

Only one way to celebrate not being selected for jury duty...a purple bottle! Surely a purple bottle of burgundy will turn the tide. Right? — 11 years ago

Fair to say the jury is still out on whether Shiraz works in the northern part of Margaret River but this is very good. Plummy with a hint of butterscotch (oak) and touch of black pepper. Medium bodied - fleshy with softening tannins. Short term cellaring. Very satisfying. — 9 years ago
Very nice but have recently returned to white. So the jury is still out. — 10 years ago
Jury is still out on how Großes Gewächs age. Not bad. — 10 years ago
Definitly woodsy with a good amount of acidity. I get some apple in there. Should have left it open longer than I did. Overall. Very good. Jury still out on the food pairing. I'm thinking Jamaican #redwine #red #americansyrah #syrah #syrahs — 11 years ago
Primarily Zin with some cab and petite sirah. This is drinking very well right now. I bet this is the last bottle in existence — 11 years ago

$80 though? Jury is out. — 9 years ago
Delicious. 2011 bad year ,? Not from this jury of my peers. ! Red bell pepper, black cherry, and dried herbs with a touch of jalapeno. Tannins linger with a nice dark deep red color. Nose of dark fruits. Here's to you Palmer@Palmer Emmitt — 9 years ago

Doesn't get better than this. Not like any Chardonnay you've ever had. — 10 years ago
Kath loved this....jury still out for me.... Flavor amazing...honeysuckle, white dried peach, orange blossom honey. Pineapple leaves on the nose, very interesting. Very temperature sensitive to max flavor. Just ordered another bottle — 11 years ago
The jury is out. This can't be a German white burgundy as the name implies because burgundy refers to the region...TBDrunk. The verdict...mildly "cheesy" inn that pleasant way, nice minerally aftertaste. Basically it's an Evie-pleasing wine - reminded me of a Riesling (I've never met one I didn't like). "Weissburgunder" is the German name for Pinot blanc - merci Wikipedia! — 11 years ago

On a quest to find the perfect wine to pair with Pho, I picked up this lively Lambrusco from Kermit Lynch...two years ago. I found it while moving around bottles, happily, though the jury is still out as to the pairing. My beef bone broth is still reducing as I type this. As to the wine, it's ruby-hued, slightly cloudy and appropriately spritzy. Plums and figs conjoin earth and decaying rose petal. There's plenty of tannic bite, with firm structure and a pleasant herbaceous leesy, if brief, finish. — 8 years ago
