It might not be Pliny the Younger but I didn't have to wait 6 hours in the rain. This is a reasonable facsimile if Pliny the Elder. — 12 years ago
The only beer out East that satisfied out strong hoppy California IPA palates. Reminiscent of Pliny the Elder from Russian River Brewery and Double Tap from Berryessa Brewing. — 12 years ago
Made from younger trees. I prefer the more expensive version with the elder trees though. This one was about $16-$17, so $8 cheaper from Arlequin. — 13 years ago

Dark ruby, almost purple in colour, lots of fine sediment. The wine offered a complex nose of elder, black currant, cherry, blackberry, chocolate, spices, clove, liquorice, some leather, some tobacco and a charred wood component. On the ripe palate the wine showed elder, black currant, cherry, some blackberry, coffee, chocolate, spices, cinnamon, liquorice and some tobacco, paired with lively medium-plus acidity, medium-plus tannin, notable heat from the alcohol (15.2% ABV) and very good length. The full-bodied wine had good complexity, with well-handled oak, but the alcohol was out of balanced. Inferior to the tight, dense, concentrated, powerful 2007. 91 — 11 years ago
2004. The color and flavor of butterscotch! Really nice, acids remain to keep it fresh in the mouth. A charming elder offering. — 12 years ago
Spectacular, fresh notes of pineapple, beeswax, elder flowers, intense balsamic, citrus, custard pie, rich texture and a powerful finish. — 13 years ago
Just enough sour (almost cider esque) from wine barrel aging. Very complex with funky, straw like nuances. A contemplative beer brewed in Salt Lake City by Epic and aged accordingly with a collaboration from Crooked Stave in Fort Collins. — 12 years ago
Early tasting of 2012 PN - watch this space in Oct 14! — 12 years ago
My favorite summer wine! Bright fresh squeezed lemon acid and wet river stone minerals duke it out for a dry finish with white nectarines and elder flowers — 12 years ago

Aptly named elder statesmen of Australian fortifieds. Savoury, complex salted caramel, almost buttery. Lovely stuff. — 11 years ago
