Amazing how these wines can hold up over time. Very consistent with much younger vintages. The usual DC minerality with plenty of blue fruits. Medium body and finish. So good! Apologies for the lame internet pic. — 10 years ago

On this Wine Wednesday, we travel all the way to Israel! Galilee to be exact, so insert lame "water into wine" joke. A mix of all of my favorites, Cab, Merlot, Cab Franc, and Malbec, this wine is light-bodied but has a pleasant, flowery aroma. Saturday night and I'm at home, studying - how lame is that?

The nose is dominated by oak and vanilla. Fruit is very much in the background.
The oak-monster raises its ugly head on the palette. Tannins and structure of this wine are very good. However, there is a sweetness and purity which is, regretfully, overwhelmed by the oak treatment. I docked several points due to this. It's still an excellent example, though. — 10 years ago
