This fella is striking a nice balance between varietal correctness and terroir. Still young - I will try another bottle in 2-3 years. Black fruits and energetic tannins harmonize for a tenor-powered performance. Solid work in the cellar to make a clean and age worthy beauty. An aging project, this Michael Shaps led Cab Franc had a real since of place "taste". I think this was given a non-case Gold in VA. Really good structure - tannins and acid still carrying real strong energy! The success in this aging process: tempered junk! You know, the wild red fruit mixed with the herbal spice...it was mellowed into an elegant to Tenor. Loud yet articulate :) — 8 years ago

Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Frappato Nero d'Avola 2014
If this wine could sing it would fill the air with a brooding, heavy, bass-driven melody with a tenor backing that sneaks in and takes over to finish. Heavy at first, leathery and dark forest, it gradually opens into a more bright and fruit forward drink with red cherry and rich exotic spices. Much more poetic than this description. — 7 years ago

What a great vintage this turning out to be...the hot, dry(er) summer brought a nice balance of sugar and acid. This was wisely Merlot heavy (60%), lending to cherry notes. However, the Merlot is sturdy alto that allows the PV and CF to harmonize their tenor cords. This was from some delightful place between Rhone and the Right Bank :) Well done and a Superb Value at 22$ — 9 years ago

This is not your Mothers Chardonnay!! The 2017 has light notes of peach and lemon which is so inviting that when you taste it is like dessert in a glass. Slight oak on the tongue with a full mouth feel that doesn’t overwhelm you. This will impress at any dinner party! — 6 years ago
