Distillery: Hebei Xianwang Liquor
Name: Huang Han Jiao

Another local from Hebei Province, and another lower alcohol Baijiu (40+ % abv). Like the Shilixiang, on the "sweet" side, but perhaps a little softer and rounder. No musky tones, more a sort of floral fragrance and quite estery. The palate was quite similar to the Shilixiang - rich and melow mid-palate, and finishes sweet with a burn. It'a quite nice, but to be honest, I'd gravitate away from Baijiu after this trip. — 6 years ago

Oxidised wine. Spends one year in demijohns in the sun, and then goes to large old oak casks.

Nose: Great subtlety here, very gentle, black berries, cherry liquor, dried figs

Palate: very gentle and delicate, very very soft tannins, very subtle and coalesced aromas, almost seem not alcoholic; interesting aftertaste of cherries with cane sugar and caramel.

Gorgeous tawny color. Aromas of nail varnish, cherry liquor, vanilla bean, coconut, hazelnut, brandy, quince, and dried fig. Mouthfeel is voluptuous. Flavors echo the nose plus additional smoky notes, cherry pie, and subtle ginger, coriander, and licorice spices. Long, unctuous finish. Wonderful 24 year expression from Mars! — 9 years ago

Best Islay scotch I've had! This is coming from an avid fan of Lagavulin. It has a maple bouquet with notes of a burning campfire. Taste is very complex with massive amounts of peat, burnt wood and extraordinary yet subtle sweetness. The finish is long and malty. If you like Laphroaig, you will find a new favorite scotch. Located just down the coast from the Laphroaig distillery this scotch is a best buy at around 70$ at your local liquor store. — 10 years ago

@Delectable Wine this is the Balcones Mirador Single Malt Whisky. Could not find it in the system.

The marathon of liquor continues! This is a lighter whisky with a hint of oak barrel on the nose. Pours almost a lighter amber. Honeysuckle notes up front. Sweet influence. This starts off with a bit of a bite. A little unidimensional. Good oaky character to it. Finishes with a really nice pleasant pine resin note. Really intriguing. The finish alone made up the difference between the 9.0 I was GOING to rate this, and the 9.2 I ultimately rated this. — 6 years ago

'Won' a lottery from the PA Liquor Control Board and was able to purchase this. A lighter wheat bourbon with nice amounts of roasted nuts, caramel, toffee and hay. Sip this anytime, enjoy a cigar with this. — 9 years ago
